  1. 3-8 against Toronto is why the Yankees are still in the race despite having a losing record against Tampa Bay. So yes, it is quite possible that the Blue Jays will cost you the AL East this year even they'll be a sub-.500 team.
  2. That was one of the worst posts I've ever seen. Look at Jeter's stats. The All Star Game is meaningless, and the Yankees are far better off with Jeter and Matsui staying home. It isn't on the front page because Yankee fans really don't give a s*** about them not playing, hence it isn't big news. Nevermind the fact that Giambi is producing now, with a .276 average to go with his .424 OBP. Like OMG hE Tuk SteRoidZ, that negates anything he does for the rest of his career. http://www.nydailynews.com/ips_rich_content/430-BACK_BIG.jpg http://www.nypost.com/img/back070905.gif http://www.newsday.com/includes/esg/lspt.jpg
  3. hahahaha... Ok, well if you want to talk leadoff hitters instead of outfielders- Jeter -.310/.395/.485 (.853 OPS) -11 HRs, 37 RBIs, and 68 Runs scored -103 hits, 12 2B, 2 3B, 40 BB, 10 SB Derek Jeter is a leadoff hitter. He leads Major League Baseball in runs scored, and ranks 6th in OBP, easily the most important stat for leadoff hitters. It is not Jeter's fault the team doesn't have 55 wins or whatever the White Sox are at. He has helped his team win far more than Podsednik has helped the White Sox win. Their record is more of a tribute to the pitching than Scott Podsednik being a 'spark plug' or whatever the term of the day is for below average hitter with speed. To summarize, Jeter is currently at 11 Win Shares, Podsednik at 9. This takes into account the 'better record' and all that garbage. Jeter is still a better and more valuable player to his team, hence a more deserving All Star. Have a nice day.

  5. Blah blah blah, blah blah blah.. How about we just let them play the games. They're not done, unless everyone 3+ games out in July is done.
  6. Blind faith is fun. Fact remains, you don't know crap about what's going to happen, like it or not.
  7. It doesn't matter the games you have seen, what matters are the overall stats. And Matsui has helped his team in far more catergories than Podsednik has helped the White Sox. I don't care about the intangibles, the lineups, whatever. Matsui has gotten the job done at a far better rate than Podsednik, thats all that should be taken into account.
  8. That's pretty gay, but I'll take the game in the Standings we got. Tough break there.
  9. And the out of it Yankees are now only 3.5 out of first place
  10. More like, the 12 of us killed your mother, but I am the only one who is willing to confess. I don't expect you to forgive me, but I'm going to try my best to become a better person after this terrible act. The message is similar, but its not nearly that drastic. Still, he cheated and there is every reason as to why he deserves the antagonizing he gets.
  11. Ok well for argument's sake, let's take a look at some statistics. Matsui .317/.385/.522- .907 OPS Podsednik .289/.363/.337- .700 OPS Matsui 13 HR, 65 RBI, 54 Runs Podsednik 0 HR, 17 RBI, 48 Runs Matsui- 99 Hits, 38 BB, 23 2B, 1 3B, 2 SB Podsednik-78 Hits, 32 BB, 13 2B, 0 3B, 41 SB So there is absolutely on reason for Podsednik to be there, unless the All Star Game is a speed contest. I don't care what intangibles he has, the numbers don't come close to comparing to Hideki's. It doesn't matter, but Matsui is having the better year.
  12. My favorite moment of recent years from the Yankees, and it doesn't matter they didn't win. Two other of my favorite moments were Tino and Brosius going deep in the World Series off Kim. Guess what, they lost that year too. Doesn't make the moments any less memorable. And again, I'm not a 5 IQ Yankee fan. I know the people you are talking about, but that simply isn't me. I'm trying to follow sabermetrics and I'm more or less a stat head. I know way more about the game than the average fan, and I feel there is no reason to question my credentials. I agree, people are stupid. There are stupid Red Sox fans, stupid Yankee fans, stupid Met fans (ok, most Met fans are stupid), stupid non-baseball fans. That is a fact of life. What you need to do is give people the benefit of the doubt until they prove they are in fact, stupid. It doesn't take much for them to show their stupidity. I'm here to talk baseball, n det set.
  13. I much prefer that the Yankees (Jeter, Matsui) get the days off instead of playing. We've got a big stretch coming up with Boston, Texas and Anaheim on the road schedule, and no off days in between. It would be nice for Jeter to make it, but I have no problem with him staying home. Podsednik definitely isn't having a better year than Hideki.
  14. I have no defense for him taking steroids, and yes cheating. However, I do give him a hell of a lot more credit than Bonds because he didn't back off at the trial. He admitted he did wrong and has worked to get past it. Hold it against him if you want, but he's done almost all he can logically do to get past it. He's not going to give back money, but he's confessed and apologized. What more do you want? The United States is the land of second chances, something you don't often hear from a guy who scored a 96% on the Republican test.

  16. I like the Guardians as a club and had them pegged out of the Central, and agree it will be tough for a team in the East to win the Wild Card. But when it comes down to it, the two best teams in the American League (Boston, NY) will end up in the playoffs, again. I still think the Yankees will win the East. Their next series against Cleveland is HUGE, as well as the series with Boston right after the break. Should be some fun baseball in the next 2 weeks.
  17. It's Jetuh! Get it right, we don't need that New England accent on Derek's last name! We need that 3rd grade educated, construction worker from Brooklyn accent. Edit- also, Timlin is closing because Foulke is hurt, or because he hasn't been effective? I haven't paid attention to the situation all that closely.

  19. Also, Rodriguez being Public Enemy #1 is weak. At least have it be a guy like Jeter who actually beat the Red Sox before.
  20. You people go crazy over the 'slap' play as if he stepped up to the plate saying "ok I'm going to hit a slow roller to the pitcher and try to slap it out of his hand, that's what I'll do." It wasn't a premeditated act folks. It happened quick, and they made the right call. I'd bring it up if he got away with it, but its done with let it go. Like it was pointed out before, Rodriguez offered to take a pay cut to go to Boston, and the 'fight' with Varitek was stupidity on both sides. Rodriguez said stuff, Varitek said stuff. It's neither guy's fault, and neither is 'tougher' because of it. Basically, you're only real knock against A-Rod is that he was supposed to go to Boston, and went to the Yankees. You abused him well before the fight and slap anyway, it's not like those turned you against him.
  21. Ah a whole 4 games out of 1st, and still being written off. Like I said, the Yankees will win the East, en route to the World Series title. They could be in first by the All Star Game, and if not, guess what the schedule says right after. Neck and neck quite soon folks, be prepared.
  22. p.s.- I'm not trying to start s*** here, you people are way too sensitive about this. I wasn't going to read the 15 pages of crap you people wrote. The last couple of game threads I threw in a Yankee picture after we won. If you can't handle a little something like that then I feel sorry for you. I apologize for hurting whatever mood you guys were in, it was not my intention, seeing that I didn't know what was going on. All I saw was the

  24. What's with the Scott Podsednik whores? I've seen a lot of them lately. Again, I say- Jetuh!
  25. Say whatever you want buddy. Hope you believe it too. We're going to be right there at the break, and run away in the 2nd half.
