  1. I'm not talking trash, I'm being honest. That's been my opinion on the matter. It has nothing to do with the Yankees gaining ground, its because Schilling should never have become a closer.
  2. Hate to say "I told you so".. wait no I don't. Told you so! Schilling should have stayed in Triple A and got his stuff back to be a starter. If he can't do that, then he really is useless to this team this season.
  3. Unless you guys are within a game of the first place Yankees at the end of the year, it will be a 161 game season. Do note that the Yankees will be in first place at the beginning of October.
  4. Batting .400 with RISP. 4-1 Good guys.
  5. That wasn't a gimme play, ball was hit hard off his glove. Big at bat right here for Sheff. 1st and 3rd, 2 out.
  6. Bernie has been raking the ball.
  7. Pettitte has been my favorite player forever. And boy would he make a difference this year. Why exactly are they trying to clear those guys through waivers if they are leading the Wild Card? Don't make sense to try and trade them now.
  8. Tejada wouldn't shock me. He went from average Shortstop on Oakland to MVP. I think it's pretty apparent that Sosa was on steroids, otherwise we'd all be celebrating him having the HR record clean. Don't get me started on Big Bad Brady and his historic sideburns. (somebody's gotta know what I mean) It really doesn't matter if you trust him or not, Giambi isn't on steroids because he got hot and then cooled off a bit. I guess Todd Helton was on steroids because he's not playing well. Chris Carpenter hasn't pitched like this before, he's on steroids. Brian Roberts must be on steroids too, look at his numbers. Juan Pierre is having a bad season, he's probably off the juice. You can accuse all over the place, but if you have nothing to back it up other than "well you know he's playing good and he wasn't before" or anything like that, you're going to look really stupid. By the way, try to get a tumor and not play baseball for a year, and come back at the level you were at when you won MVP. It takes time to get everything going again, they're not machines.
  9. Just so you know, Giambi didn't cheat. What he did wasn't against the rules, therefore he didn't cheat. Immoral yes, but not cheating. I bet you read the National Enquirer.
  10. Roger Clemens is making a run at that number this season alone.
  11. Small can get out lefties and righties. I'd prefer him to be on the roster than someone like franklin who can't get out anybody.
  12. I know, it is being artificially inflated. Quality over quantity
  13. That is simply straight up retarded. He's been a Godsend. Weather didn't help. Doesn't matter about the stats, what matters is he was locating his fastball and throwing with some bite on his pitches. PS- this is how you fit 3 ideas into one post, instead of going 3 times in a row
  14. PS, I firmly believe that Wright was damaged goods at the start of the year and it's the reason he sucked. The scouts have been saying he looks a lot more like the one from Atlanta than he did in April.
  15. Small and Chacon have been better than any other starter on the Yankees or on Boston the last month. But they'll get overlooked because they aren't big name guys. They're going to be a huge factor down the stretch. We know what Johnson can bring to the table, Mussina has been pretty consistent this summer as well. Should the rotation be Johnson, Mussina, Wright, Chacon I really do think they could win some games in October. I'm more worried about the Yankee bullpen, not so much Rivera but Sturtze has been shaky at best lately and Gordon is never a slam dunk. Mendoza just got to Triple A, and if Aaron Small is bumped back into the bullpen he could be a breath of fresh air down the stretch for that pen. Overall the pitching staff isn't as bad off as everyone thinks. We know the offense will give something to the equation as well.
  16. He played against kids at least 2 years younger than him, that's how he got his ticket to fame! Could you imagine a college freshman playing high school JV baseball? An average athlete would dominate them. Almonte is decent, overhyped, overrated and won't amount to anything in the big leagues.
  17. No Yankees, what a shocker!
  18. Almonte was way overrated. 2 years older than the rest of the kids he was playing against was a huge difference, especially at that point. I likened it to playing with my brother's team, who is 2 years younger than me. I would have dominated that league, and I'm not a Hall of Famer by any stretch. He was more physically mature, and that made him overpowering.
  19. You guys are really stretching it. They don't order tests based on how good someone is playing. It's a slump, but he's still doing what we need from him. Getting on base.
  20. I know, who's ever heard of a slump?
  21. Helluva stop by Rodriguez right there.
  22. Not only that, but when they're younger they are pumped full of them. Living in those conditions, a scout comes over and sees someone with some potential and gives them some 'performance enhancers'. The people over there won't question it, since its the only chance to make some money and the scouts want to be known for discovering a phenom. It's terrible, but it is true.
  23. Tell that to Kevin Brown.
  24. I was actually at the game the last time that happened. Appropriately enough, Yankees-Red Sox. I went to go get some food and came back with the game still at the same point when I left. I looked to the netting and saw a guy with a liquor bottle in the net. Alcohol and dumbasses are a dangerous mix. But it can be entertaining as hell.
  25. Yeah, I'm dying to see how this shapes up too. If it's a big guy on a pennant chasing team it could affect the race as well. If the Angels were to lose Vlad for 10 games it could be crippling.
