  1. I don't think many teams in the playoffs get there playing baseball the wrong way. The Royals play the wrong way. The White Sox have 4 more wins than the rest of the playoff teams in the AL, that's all.
  2. Holy crap, Gammons actually picked against Boston? He's been on Theo's/Lucchino's crotch for the longest time. It's gotta be reverse psychology or something.
  3. Resting players for the playoffs is one thing, taking them out for no reason in the 4th inning is another. Showalter was an idiot for doing that. Bush league, but hey what can you do? Just another thing to say we overcame to win the World Series. We had to go on the road at some point anyway. Starting Mussina in Game 162 makes NO SENSE, and anyone who says otherwise is just being brainless. We clinched the spot, and he's the guy we want for Game 1 of the ALDS. Why the hell would we use him up in a game where there is little to gain.
  4. Score a lot of runs isn't really a strategy, dumbass. Key on stopping Vlad, and we win.
  5. I don't think they have a chance. They were the best team in baseball, in July. Unfortunately, they fell apart. You always have to go with the hot team going into the playoffs. And unless Boston has pitching problems, I don't see the White Sox having a prayer. They just aren't that good of a team.
  6. If the award was for 'Most Clutch Hitter' you've got an argument. Unfortuantely it is MVP. You fail.
  7. If Vlad doesn't beat us this series, Anaheim has got nothing. I can't wait for this series to start.
  8. I can't wait to hear the 1917 chants at Fenway. Is it just me, or does it seem like we have a White Sox fan who knows the season only has 3 games left, and is getting his shots in now? Chicago is DONE.
  9. Contain Vlad and its a sweep for the Yankees.
  10. Good post.
  11. I like the way this pitching sets up. Wang will start game 4, I can't see them going with Small.
  12. Whoda thunk Cleveland would get swept?
  13. I think Chicago might take Game 1. It will be interesting to see how Jose handles the Red Sox. I don't trust Clement in a big spot either though.
  14. Yeah I wanted to keep Girardi. He's probably going to get that job with Florida.
  15. Just came to mind. Hopefully it will make some people think twice about being arrogant the next time.

  17. Him using it then, is not him using it now, no matter how much you want it to be. Prove something to me, show me the failed drug test or let it go. How does Giambi "look like he's on them again". It's not because he's got 32 homers and 90 RBIs, right? Ortiz was an average/above average hitter to the best left handed hitter in baseball. If you are using their statistics as evidence it is a parallel. I'm not accusing Ortiz, I'm saying it is retarded to say either of them are on steroids without any proof at all.
  18. The evidence you are using against Giambi this year (was bad, got good all of a sudden) is the same thing he's using against Ortiz (was bad, got good all of a sudden). Making a parallel, not an accusation.
  19. Yes Matsui should have been out, but I guess it didn't really make a difference. I think the ump's argument was he couldn't make the tag anyway. At least that's what my amateur lip reading told me. Umpires sucked today.
  20. It isn't media bias, nobody is out to get Ortiz. A-Rod has been better, plain and simple. You'd all be fellating Ortiz if he went 4-5 with a homer and double in a clinching game. Be realistic here. Almost every statistic is in Rodriguez' favor, he plays good defense and can run the bases. You have A-Rod, we have Ortiz and almost EVERYONE here changes their vote.
  21. Good call. Hmm, if Johnson ever steps up I think we can take the east. He did, we did. I'm smarter than I look.
  22. Remember how you go with the hot team going into the playoffs? Nobody hotter than the Yanks right now. Bring on the Angels. (I didn't just come back after the game, just FYI. I got my computer back from the shop today. Not that I think you guys would accuse me of that.)
  23. His offense has to make up for his lack of defense. He hasn't done that. Barry Bonds 2001 numbers would, but not this year. A-Rod leads him in too many categories. He hasn't gone above and beyond A-Rod's numbers, meaning he's not MVP. But I really don't care, as long as we win the World Series. Clutch hitter of the year, maybe. Not MVP.
  24. Wake historically on 3 days rest is not up to snuff. I think we'll hit him around pretty good. Johnson in this Saturday's start is going to be Randy Johnson. He gets pumped up and nasty, it'll be mighty tough to scratch a run off him. If it comes down to Chacon pitching on Monday, I'll put it in his hands over Arroyo. Chacon has been dominant. He strung together 17 consecutive scoreless innings (against those pesky Blue Jays, and the first inning of his Baltimore start). Arroyo is hittable, and if I remember correctly his last start was none too impressive. And going to tonight, if Wang is healthy (96 on the radar gun?) and locating you guys are screwed. His sinker is deadly, Kevin Brown good days-esque. Boomer is hurting, and while I won't put a great start past him, he has used excuses like that in the past (2003 WS). I really think this is over before Sunday. History of course says, we'll be playing on Monday. Mussina and Schilling is really a crap shoot. Either guy can throw 7 scoreless, or be out in the 3rd inning. But we'll get there when we get there.
  25. This has the makings of the most important regular season series, ever. Are you pumped or what? 3 days, 1 division winner and maybe one team goes home. What are you doing for the games? I for one am definitely going out to watch this matchup. Exciting as hell. This is why we watch. Does anyone really think this won't come down to Chacon vs. Arroyo in the Bronx?
