  1. I need to do this more often.
  2. I wouldn't push it in a 1-run game, especially not with the way the bullpen has played.
  3. Where the hell is Paul O'Neill?
  4. Teehee, no. It's still the first weekend in June. Edit- didn't mean to sound like a dick, but come on now.
  5. Abreu's done it a few times. He can run and historically has a high OBP, two things you want in a leadoff hitter. If Damon's out of the lineup, Abreu makes sense. It's not like they're taking power out of the middle of the order. In response to the Proctor thing, obviously headhunting is wrong. I think it's dirty and stupid. However, part of me was happy to see the Yankees finally stand up and throw some crap Boston's way. I don't have the exact numbers on me, but I remember hearing a statistic that said in this series in the last 5 years or so, Yankee players being HBP was almost twice as high as Boston players. Sox pitchers get away with throwing up and in to Jeter his whole career, it's nice to see that get sent the other way. Although I again, I think they had to do that to Ortiz or Ramirez to really get the message across.
  6. Good for him?
  7. I'd want him to be sharp before he comes up here. He hasn't put it all together in the minors yet, I'd like to have a guaranteed good start. I didn't have a chance to vent about this yesterday- why the hell did Torre take out Clippard? He wasn't great, but he hadn't thrown a lot of pitches and was throwing strikes. A 1-run game became a 7 run game in the blink of an eye. Gah.
  8. How many pitches did Mussina throw in the 6th? I completely missed the inning.
  9. Damn, that sucks. At least the Knicks didn't hit, I would have had to kill Isiah.
  10. Fair enough. Usually that kind of treatment is reserved for obnoxious fans, which is why I figured they brought it on themselves for a reason other than wearing a jersey. I was sitting right near an ******* yesterday who consistently was taunting the fans by yelling at the Yankee players. People who start taunting Yankee players at the Stadium are asking to be targets, and don't deserve sympathy.
  11. The point is that this Red Sox team does not seem like one that will win at a .700 clip all year (113 wins). Everyone has cold streaks, and Boston has yet to hit theirs. Conversely, the Yankees are due to begin playing better, with the team getting healthier and starting to find their stroke offensively. The Yankees do not seem like a 75 win team, meaning they are probably going to play better, more consistent baseball.
  12. Whoa, calm down buddy. My post was dripping with sarcasm. Even though they did do something to provoke it in all likelihood, it is uncalled for. Stop being so touchy.
  13. The game was a lot of fun today. Obnoxious Sox fans got to eat some crow at the Stadium. Taunting A-Rod up until that ball landed 450 feet away, that was fun. There has been a change in this Yankee team the last two and a half games. It has been a significant, noticeable change. I honestly think they're about to round into form, and go on some runs of simply winning series. Damon looked better, Cano looked better, and that helped the offense have some life. We'll be alright, let's keep at them tomorrow.
  14. They probably deserved it.
  15. What the hell was with him falling to third base sometimes, and first base other times? In any case, Clippard was very good. Threw strikes, had good command of the breaking ball and got through the game pretty economically. Like I said yesterday, they're showing signs of life. This series against Boston is huge, and I think the Yankees will take at least 2 of 3. The pitching is definitely working in our favor.
  16. They showed some signs of life. They will be good again soon. It's tough when you're starting Mike Myers. We're not going to win the east barring a miracle, but the playoffs can be had.
  17. You're an idiot.
  18. He was a field goal away from going to the Super Bowl in '98, and really seems to want to be in New England. If he wants to play, he'll play. As long as he doesn't get all pissy, the Pats should have a damn good year, with a big contribution from Moss. Edit- But yes, guaranteed a Super Bowl? Shut up. That's stupid.
  19. I understand that they're trying to get all they can for their investment, but really, is it that hard to believe he's going to need Tommy John Surgery? The guy is DONE, and I've been giving him every chance in the world to make it here. He's finished. His forearm is hurting him, largely because his girlfriend dumped him and he's had to fly solo since then.
