  1. He has a curveball he hasn't used as a reliever because he doesn't need it, as well as a change. And he does have the stuff to live as a 2 pitch pitcher. Randy Johnson is going to the hall of fame with a fastball slider. He won't be a 4.8 ERA guy as a starter.
  2. Joba will be in the rotation next year. 200 innings is much more valuable than 80 innings.
  3. Damn, wish I didn't miss it.
  4. I think Manning will go down as a top 3 QB when all is said and done.
  5. I like it. Get the calls right.
  6. Johjima is funny.
  7. Joba Chamberlain impresses me more and more every time I see him. He's got the stuff a big leaguer needs, and it sure seems like he's got the makeup to handle New York.
  8. I want to see what Joba can do as a starter. But I really like the arms the Yanks have developed.
  9. Good inning for Hughes. If he's not in the rotation next year I'll throw up. Really, step off the ledge. He's 21 years old and was the #2 prospect in baseball coming into the year, and is coming off 2 leg injuries. Not everybody is Justin Verlander out of the shoot. Clemens had a 4.32 ERA in his first season with Boston. Santana had a 6.49 ERA in his first season, and a 4.74 ERA in his second season. Re-f***ing-lax.
  10. Ortiz. Without him you guys are up s*** creek. edit- 3rd in the AL in VORP.
  11. And he did a great job shutting up 40,000 people. Yes he stepped up when he had to, but when you make stupid comments like he did, you open yourself up to ridicule if you screw up. Anyway, Yankees winning like I figured they would. Take the rubber match tomorrow and we're sitting pretty.
  12. The fact that he watched Hughes pitch and spotted immediately what some problems were, whereas Guidry has been around him and has not been able to change a thing. I really never liked the Guidry pick as pitching coach. I think he can handle a staff of veterans, but I don't like him with young arms at all.
  13. Damn you for beating me to the Giambi comparison, but I agree. Good job for at least being a man about it, but f*** you for cheating. Don't do it again, work to build your reputation again, and produce on the field.
  14. This is my point. This pitching coach they called up is better than Guidry at spotting and fixing mechanical problems, some of which he already saw in Hughes. Which would lead me to hope that the 91 MPH pitches down the heart of the plate are a thing of the past.
  15. I like it better than the matchup we had today. Washburn has always been overrated in my book, and I think Hughes is set for a turnaround start this start. His Triple A pitching coach Dave Eiland has been called up to work with Hughes, and he said he noticed some things wrong with his mechanics.
  16. Take the next 2 with better pitching matchups and it's all good. I didn't expect them to hit around Felix today in the first place. I hate day games.
  17. As long as the Orioles and Devil Rays aren't in the playoffs, I like our chances. Even though we'll get matched up with f***ing Anaheim again to piss me off for a week.
  18. Youk was out. If he didn't try to avoid the tag, he wouldn't have gone out of the baseline. If he was smart, he would have just stopped running. At the very least, A-Rod wouldn't have been able to turn the double play. I don't know what was up with Joba, but keep in mind he hadn't gone more than an inning on one day rest since he's been up, so fatigue/lack of control is not all that unlikely. Regardless, for all the times Boston pitchers have hit Yankee players, Joba gets a pass. I don't have the stat on hand, but I know the numbers are at least 2 to 1 of Yankee players hit as opposed to Sox players hit. I just wish he made Ortiz move his feet in the box. Nobody has ever done that to him. If the Sox won 1 game this series (which I pretty much expected them to do) I'd have been sure the division was wrapped up. Now with Ramirez out a week and a half, coming off a sweep with Tampa on the schedule, this is a race again. The Sox lineup is light years behind what it normally is when Manny isn't playing, and that could come back to bite them the next few games. The Yankees could very well shave a few games off and make this real close when they meet again in Fenway.
  19. All the Yankees should be looking at is what the Mariners and Angels do down the stretch. The only way they catch Boston is if the Sox finish on a 15 game losing streak.
  20. The reason we still have Chamberlain and Hughes is because Cash refused to deal them for a quick fix like Texiera. What high impact pitchers were on the market this year anyway? Cash didn't drop the ball, the players just didn't perform to what they're expected until it was too late to catch the Sox. Hopefully Seattle gets a cold spell (God knows they're due for one) and we work our way into October. All that matters is getting in.
  21. Orioles give Dave Trembley a contract extension! Yay Baltimore!
