Changeup was sick. He made them look silly up there. His fastball is sneaky fast, and the changeup looked unhittable. I think we have something here. He is 6'3 and weighs 150 pounds according to the Yankees website.

On Mariano- his cutter looked ok, but his location on the straight fastball outside was not there. I'm honestly not losing sleep over Mariano, he's the least of our worries.

Big knock by Matsui. We need to take 2 of 3 from the Angels, then just get really hot against the teams we've got after the break. 8 with Tampa, 4 with Kansas City, 3 with Baltimore plus the one we've got to finish.

Javy Vazquez does not have the testicular fortitude to succeed in NY. He would be a completely useless acquisition. They're third in runs and are 37-39. Andy Pettitte has a 3.24 ERA and a 4-5 record. They're 5-13 in 1-run games. They don't get hits when it counts, period. Guys like Abreu, Damon, Cano, and Matsui should be driving in these runs, and they're not. There's no excuse to go 1-7 against Colorado, San Francisco and Baltimore.

I don't know how much clearer I can make this. I don't care about investments. If we were going to get Vasquez (why?) or Buerhle, it would not at all be precluded by signing Clemens. He cost us money. No prospects or draft picks, just money. If we go and say we want to trade for Buerhle, Clemens does not stop us from doing that. Our problems have stemmed from the fact that Damon, Abreu, Cano, Matsui, Cabrera, and 1st base cannot hit. If he gives up 4 runs per start we should still win.

He throws over 90. I don't know where you get 87 from. I've watched him hit 91-92 on the gun. He doesn't have his command right now, but I'll take my chance with him down the stretch. I really don't give a s*** about payroll arguments. We overpay for everyone, it really doesn't matter if we're paying Cano $800,000 or A-Rod $80,000,000. I really just care if you produce. Clemens is not the problem when the team scores zero runs.

Knicks got a steal of a trade. We got rid of Francis' contract and upgraded Frye to Randolph. Curry and Randolph with Lee as the 6th man up front is damn good. Great job Zeke. I really don't like the Celts move for Allen. They are afraid of rebuilding despite having the number 5 pick in a DEEP draft. They could have moved Pierce and Jefferson and started over clean. Allen is a great pickup if you are one player away from contending. This makes the Celtics a possible 8 seed. This is making a move to hope for 2 more home games in the playoffs. And now they draft a 3 point shooter in the 2nd round? Really, what sense does that make?

Not looking for excuses, but they were on an extended homestand and the travel could have had an effect. Not making a huge deal of it, I just expect a better effort tonight.

Jet lag + high altitudes? Let's see if they can turn it around today. Pettitte has good numbers in Colorado in his career.

I'd take Pedroia over Matsuzaka everyday for this award. For all the hype, his ERA is north of 4 and has had trouble with his command. Pedroia's come in and stablized second base for the Sox, and has been improving all season.

That would be a good hire for Baltimore, I think Girardi is going to be a great manager. My only hope is that he'll wait for a better job to open up in the offseason (Yankees).
