  1. Man, what an exciting finish. I got home from seeing "Envy" (which by the way was the most unfunny movie ever) and turn it on in the bottom of the 8th and see Belli's 2 run single. The Bellhorn and then finally Tek to finish it off. I really do love that dirty water.
  2. I don't think it'd work, Benny. At Netsports it was so fun because of all the different fans of different teams trying to vote each other off. Here we only have Red Sox fans so the strategy wouldn't really be there.
  3. Hey Conig. This man, ladies and gentlemen got me one of the most clutch votes that won me Netsports Survivor. And for that, I salute you. BTW- Sorry guys. I always have to remind people of my victorious ways once and awhile.
  4. I second that. He's my favorite player too.
  5. I've only been a Sox fan since '98 I'll only give you my favorites that I've seen: 1. Christopher Trotman Nixon 2. Anthony Nomar Garciaparra 3. Pedro Martinez 4. David Ortiz 5. Manny Ramirez 6. Scott Hatteberg 7. Curt Schilling 8. Tim Wakefield 9. Bret Saberhagen 10. Jason Varitek
  6. OK, by request I started another game thread. Let's keep the flow going and split with the Tribe. I can't see the young Indian hitters hitting Pedro too well. He needs to pitch great to make for his last start. And maybe if we win, maybe Choakland will help us out eh? But anyways, just win.
  7. I'm not sure about that, but I do know Omar began his career in Seattle.
  8. I was at Roger's "supposed" last game which was Game 4 of the World Series last year and all the little-knowledged Marlins cheered him and crap. But not me. Me and my friend were booing the hell out of him.
  9. OK there is no way that we're are gonna lose today. It just won't happen. They came back last night and the offense will break out tonight. Let's all forget about the Yankees and Orioles and just worry about us. Kim's coming off a good season debut and D'Amico pretty much sucks so let's go get'em.
  10. I guess Manny can't hit two 85-90 mph straight fastballs and a hanging curveball right down the middle. Well at least they showed some signs of life. We'll get'em tomorrow. BTW- I am starting a game thread tomorrow. I have not posted one during this losing streak and I think it it time I start reversing some of this losing trend. Tomorrow's game thread is mine.
  11. OK I'm pretty pissed right now, coming home in the 7th just to turn on this crap of a game. But guys, we're acting like Orbitalex (Netsporters know what I'm talking about). The sky isn't falling, the offense will be fine hopefully soon and the pitching is still awesome, despite the fact that Lowe isn't pitching like the guy Scott Boras says he is. But then again, who really is the guy Scott Boras says he is? Right now, Manny, Ortiz, and Tek are carrying the team, which is never good. Does anybody else miss Trot or Nomar? But I'll ya one thing, Lenny DiNardo has impressed me thus far. We will still 95-100 games people so lets just chill. Remember, the MFY were going through stage like this just a week ago.
  12. I they're stupid Yankee fans, ask them to name their 1996 starting lineup (which is easy). If they can't then tell them they're in no condition to gloat because the no nothing about the game of baseball and they should keep hiding under their insecure Yankee loving ways. (I've had a lot of experiece with this.)
  13. Ahhh the west coast. I live in Jupiter.
  14. This is painful to watch. How many days till Nomar and Trot come back?
  15. You may be knowledgable because you love the Sox, but your spelling sucks!
  16. Woo hoo! Another member representin' the Sunshine State! Where in Florida do you live? And welcome to the site.
  17. I can kinda relate to what your saying Albert. When I was 10 (which was only 3 years ago) I visited Fenway Park and my parents seemed horrified when they saw some shirts "questioning Jeter's sexual preference". Now of course I'm kinda into the whole Yankees suck thing (I got 2 shirts to prove it) but some people take it too far. But as people have said, it's not like kids don't talk about worth things than saying "suck" in school. Trust me, I know being in 7th grade.
  18. I love New Englanders!
  19. McCarty was pinch-ran for because he had hit for Pokey, and Crespo would've come in to play SS anyway because McCarty can't play SS.
  20. It's supposed to be freezing tonight in Cleveland, which is kinda symbolic of our bats. But I expect our bats tonight to come out fiery and hot and totally crush the Tribe tonight. I want a 10 run 1st inning and a shutout by Schilling. Of course I'm probably asking too much out of this, so let's just win.
  21. How many times this year have we seen him make really solid contact and it looks like he got all of it, but he really only lofted the ball to CF? Personally, I'm tired of seeing him anywhere near a piece of lumber. Unfortunately we're gonna have to wait for his disapearance until Nomar get back because we have no other good middle infielder in the minors and we're not trading for anyone. Damn, does anyone still wish we had Womack or Shumpert?
  22. This is from bostondirtdogs.com 5.2.04: Gammons excerpts on WEEI The Baseball Show with Neumy, McAdam, Buckley: Pedro’s stream of consciousness wasn’t well thought out. If you’re worried about the fans and love Boston, you can play for $13M a year... some people sign under market, Curt Schilling coming here, if you really want to take the AAV (average annual value) side of it. Playing in a sold out park, having a team competitive in probably the most rabid baseball town in America, does mean something. Only a finite amount of money that the Red Sox can spend. They can’t spend with Yankees. They've done an astounding job raising revenue from $160M – 230M. But the Yankees have $340M. The Red Sox have $380M in debt service. George Steinbrenner paid $10M back in the '70s. So they (Sox) can’t play it that way. There's only so much money for each player. It's unfair to call them liars. He might not agree with what they offer. But he hasn’t been lied to at all. They’re (Red Sox brass) trying to find a way. His shoulder is not likely to be insurable, so the Red Sox couldn’t collect if he went on the disabled list for a year. The way that was said (by Pedro) was wrong. John Henry, Larry Lucchino, and Theo Epstein sat down with all people in the organization to make sure not to say anything negative about this guy. It was a pretty strong order. I think the shots he took at them were a little bit unfair. But part of what makes Pedro so good is to run off like this. Buck: How much of this is a 72 hour brushfire or is it a season-long black cloud? PG: Derek Lowe and Jason Varitek are not affected by this. Or Ortiz, and I think they’ll get him done. The cloud is with Nomar and Pedro, but they're both so driven to succeed, they’ll perform... They haven’t bled Red Sox blue for a couple of years now. Still, a very close team. And it's not from star players but from the second tier (read: dirt dogs). Ortiz, Varitek, Millar, they drive the engine, and create this team's personality. I was amazed to see how much Pedro was missing the glove last night. It’s troublesome, but it’s one game... At same time, what level (salary to pay Pedro)? He wants an AAV higher than Kevin Brown, but what can you live on? $13.5M two years, plus options, depending on health. After two more years, he'll have made $117M with the Red Sox. It’s not the dollars (the players' care about), it’s you want more than this other person. If they gave each one what it requires to sign them right now, to me, they’d be insane. They’re gonna stick to what they believe each player is worth… Scott Boras and Lowe at 4x12, 4X10 for Varitek, is not going to get done right now. ...I don’t know if the Nomar thing is going to get reopened or not. There's a lot of bitterness there. If they sign Ortiz, it's not going to infuriate Jason Varitek. I think Oakland will trade Barry Zito and he could wind up here because of the relationship between the GMs. (Buck: Cape league coach Joe Walsh over at Hartford raves about him every chance he gets). ...Andy Dominque has gotten Oakland A’s written all over him... Zito would be great here. Tall lefty, Bruce Hurst did well here. But we’re a long way from there.
