  1. yeesh, its not a very pretty game. No offense, come on! All our runs were scored on homers last night, why cant you do anything today!
  2. He's injured. I think I posed something in a game discussion thread about 2 days ago. He left the game with a contusion in his knee, I think he's listed as day to day.
  3. errrrr, whoops. I accidentaly deleted yagmaster's post about schilling. My bad, thats what fourzerosix was responding too.
  4. Good point. I hadnt thought of that actually.
  5. It may be completely unimportant, but it was something that struck me as odd. In his career, Schilling has 25 1/3 ip at fenway, and a 6.04 ERA. He does have 29 strikeouts though. It seems odd to me that he'd have this high of an ERA, but I guess it's been a while since he pitcher here, and he never really pitched as part of an AL ball club. On the other hand, he has an even worse ERA (6.55) in 11 ip at camden yards, and he pitched well there last week. So I guess I'm not worried. It was just weird to me.
  6. Why?
  7. http://cbs.sportsline.com/mlb/story/MLB_SC-RUMOR It is reported that preliminary talks have begun (actually, I think they began a while ago). Why do the mfy need Boone now? They already have the best ss playing 3b. It seems to me like overkill.
  8. Not to be picky, but Williams didn't use BALCO, it was Sheffield. Anyway, great frickin game, great win for Sox, great start by Pedro, and great couple of games coming up. yup, that was a typo, I meant shef. Its changed now.
  9. 15 bucks a year is worth it imo, if its for a high quality, well run league. I remember last year there were a few days where no stats were updated on yahoo. Plus cbs sportsline leagues are compeltely customizeable.
  10. "Jeter sucks arod" shirts were making appearances all over brookline avenue. I hadn't seen them before. Gave me a laugh. I am praaaaaying that when shef/giambi comes to bat, the fenway faithful starts: "baaaaaaaaaaaalco, baaaaaaaaaaaalco". Would that ever make my day.
  11. I'd never seen the fenway crowd like that before, probably because I've never been to a Pedro game before. It was ridiculous. A bit anti-climactic when whoever got that hit, but it was amazing.
  12. And as a side note, I gave crespo my own mini-standing ovations for each of his two hits. Impressive.
  13. Pedro, even though he only hit 91 three times (to my knowledge, from looking at the speed gun thing), was unbelievable. Halladay was as well, until later on in the game. It was damn quick too, over in 2 hours and 20 minutes (ish). I dont see why Francona took Pedro out with 2 outs in the eighth other than trying to be the anti-Grady Little. Was this elaborated on on TV? Otherwise, it was a great game.
  14. Well, I am about to leave to make my way towards fenway (gotta get there early dontchaknow). I hope all goes well with Pedro.
  15. They offered to pay for the expos park if the team moves to D.C. Here's the article from ESPN (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1779131) I think it woudl be cool for the expos to move down there, but I'd rather see them stay in Montreal. Canada should keep its baseball teams.
  16. On TV schilling took a major shot at the media, specifically Shaughnessy. I think it was on Jim Rome's show. Anyone see it?
  17. Calm down, this doesnt even count as early in the season. The bullpen went 6 2/3 scoreless in that 13 inning game, they dont worry me. And timmy will get it back, dont worry. Its just a matter of one or two more games.
  18. WHOOPS! Lol, i meant first place, its now corrected. Their 4-0 record threw me off. lol.
  19. I'm not just speaking for that one situation, I was more referring to the season as a whole, and whether or not he should really be used as a reliever in the future.
  20. Name something stranger than the tigers winning the central over the whitesox/twins/Guardians/roayls this season.
  21. Soriano: $5.4 million in 2004 (http://rangers.siegler.net/roster/soriano.html) Kim: $3.5 million in 2004 (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=6237) Kim isnt exactly cheap either, and Soriano isnt exactly being paid his weight in gold. (actually, maybe he is, but he isnt being paid a lot for the kind of player he is)
  22. They were down by 3 when he was first put in, quite an overcomeable defecit. 5, not so much so.
  23. They all say they arent bitter now, but I remember their reactions when the signings first happened. They were all PISSED.
  24. Whether or not this is a permanent thing, here are my thoughs on Mccarty being a pitcher: I'm not entirely sure if its that great of an idea. He only throws mid 80's (his fastball registered 86 tops I believe), and, although he has been working on it, does not work out as a pitcher in my mind. Maybe using him in emergency, extra-innings games makes sense, but not during a regulation game, like was done today. I'd prefer to see him swing the bat at 1b or DH, as he showed he could do very well over the spring.
  25. Mccarty was up all night as well, the entire team was. Williamson was not worked too hard I believe, why not go with him? I'm not necessarily complaining about the decision, it was entertaining to watch. I'm just not sure if it was the best possible thing to do.
