  1. Definitely The Sandlot. Man that was a great moviel. In fact, I just recently saw it for the bajillionth time. "FOR-EH-VER"
  2. Let me clarify, who lost to the marlins in the world series in this millenium.
  3. Ugh, lets not start this again. Who lost to the Marlins in the world series?
  4. Postponed due to rain. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/reds...ame_rained_out/ It's like two off days in a row! I cant stand it!
  5. Yea, its one of our goals to not censor everything. But dont get too out of hand, or else we'll be forced to ban you!
  6. Today my marketing class went on a "field trip" to Fenway, to get a tour and to learn how the Red Sox market themselves to fans. Here are some pictures that I got of some areas that most of us dont usually get to see. Unfortunately, my digicam sucks, and I wasnt able to whip it out quick enough to get some cooler shots. Anyway, enjoy: Unfortunately, many of my images turned out terribly. This one was of the view from the press box, where the writers sit, out onto the field. This is what it looks like: http://pockettechnologies.net/fileupload/uploads/dcp_1275.jpg Although the view from the window didnt work, this is the press box itself. I sat in some projo writer's seat, but I made sure to sit down and let one rip, if you know what I mean, on Dan Shaughnessy's assigned seat. http://pockettechnologies.net/fileupload/uploads/dcp_1277.jpg This is the Red Sox hall of fame club. Only season ticket holders can enter here during games, but on the tour we were allowed to. Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of the plaques on the wall, but I can assure you, there are a lot of them (i think the number is 80?) http://pockettechnologies.net/fileupload/uploads/dcp_1279.jpg Forgive me that these are a bit out of order, but this is the view on the field from the Monster seats. It was a miserable day, and the field was covered and everything was wet. But the view was still worthwhile. http://pockettechnologies.net/fileupload/uploads/dcp_1281.jpg The Monster seats themselves. We've all probably already seen them, but what the hell, I'll post it anyway: http://pockettechnologies.net/fileupload/uploads/dcp_1282.jpg My favorite picture, although it is a little bit blurry, is of none other than Theo Epstein. On the way out of the park I saw him hanging outside of the Red Sox players parking lot, talking to someone about his pants. He looked at me and I snapped this pic right before thanking him for Schill + Foulke. He didnt look too pleased, but whatever. http://pockettechnologies.net/fileupload/uploads/dcp_1283.jpg And my last picture is of how the Boston Globe and all sports writers make that game summary section and player info section. Essentially, the sox do it for them. They print this up after every game and give them to the writers, so they can basically copy and paste it into the papers. http://pockettechnologies.net/fileupload/uploads/dcp_1284.jpg I'm sorry I couldnt get any more images, but I think that gives the general idea. Then we listened for about an hour and a half to some marketing guy for the Sox in the .406 club as he explained techniques and groups and boring marketing things. Although the tour itself wasnt that informative (most of the people in the class were clueless, and the guy kept going on and on about Ted Williams), it was fun some spots I'll most likely never see again. And as a side note, the 406 club is nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be. It was miserable weather, but it was still fun. As for the status of the game tonight, half of the people I asked (who looked important) said it was on, the other half said it might be PPD. We'll have to wait and see.
  7. Anytime.
  8. I'm worried there's gonna be another brawl: http://www.foxsports.com/netapp/blobs/active/0/3/1742962_18_1.jpg
  9. shutup *******! No, but seriously, welcome to the site.
  10. not being a hockey fan, what in the hell does "habs" stand for?

  12. He finally did it: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/gameUpdate?gameId=240412126
  13. Portland, Oregon is the biggest metropolitan area that does not have more than one professional sports team. I really think that its a good potential market, as the only close baseball team is the mariners. Just a thought.

Kansas city, as we all remember, got off to a 10-0 start. There are other surprises there as well (Seattle 5-6, Pittsburgh 7-4). It just goes to show how stats one week into the season really have no bearing on the rest of the season. These stats are after about 11 games played for each team, so it is more even as more games were played.
  15. It puts them on a level playing field with the cubs, who lost Prior before the season even began. So no, I dont think it really puts them at a disadvantage.
  16. This makes sense to me. Why give the team expected to give us the hardest time a godo, early season look at our ace? I expect people to give Pedro a hard time for trying to avoid the yankees, but thats just not true. Its a logical move. And looking at our rotation through the next month, I'm very pleased.
  17. Agreed. And welcome to the board.
  18. Thank God. Man, that would have been unfortuante if Bobby Jones blew it for us. Ortiz is becoming the man more and more and more and more. I now see this guy topping 40 homers and 120 rbi this year. As that sign up on tv said, he is indeed "el sexy"
  19. Why? Malaska hasn't proven himself to be a bad pitcher (in fact, I think he just proved himself a good pitcher). Last year he pitched well, albeit in a short time, with Tampa Bay. I see no reason why that move should have been questioned, especially since it is an extra inning game and williamson may be needed later on.
  20. Are you s***ing me BOBBY "I ALWAYS BLOW GAMES LIKE I BLOW MYSELF" JONES IS COMING IN! Oh man.....
  21. Lol, its like a play by play in here. Kapler isnt looking that good at all in this game, or in the whole season for that matter. a .222 average and obp is nothing to write home about. As much as it pains me to say it, we need Trot back in that lineup.
  22. The Tigers have been a surprise, but we know they wont keep it up. What surprised me was the fact that many aces had trouble on opening day (mussina (twice) and halladay most notably).
