  1. The other guy is Stewart O'nan or something like that. I dont mean to burst your bubble, but I didnt think it was a very good read. It was kind of boring to tell you the truth. It may have been interesting to read if it were released serially as the season progressed, but after the fact it is kind of pointless I think.
  2. Did we go over the cap because of bonuses incurred from winning the world series. I know there are performance based incentives, so is that what pushed us over?
  3. I agree with you, we're much deeper and we have a higher probability of winning every game consistently. The rotation may not be better, per say, but it seems deeper and it has the potential to win us a lot of games. Every one could win 13 games, easy. And welcome to the site by the way.
  4. Judging from the lack of replies to this thread, I guess you can see that this isn't that big of a deal to sox fans.
  5. I'd rather have Minky stay, his defense last year as superb, and I felt confident in the team and its defense whenever he was at first. He isnt as good a hitter as Millar, there's no doubt about that, but we have enough offense to stand the loss of a streaky hitter who is annoying as all hell. Millar may be a clubhouse goofball, but he pisses me off with all his KFC commercials and stupid gimmicks and that goofy smile. It can be fun sometimes, but he needs to tone it down.
  6. I said Wells, partially because I have tickets to the second game, and I dont want to see Wells pitch, I'd rather see one of our other new acquisitions. But he could certainly beat whoever the yankees throw at him (it may or may not be Johnson), and as people have said, he's experienced enough to know what the game means and to handle himself correctly. Plus, since it would be opening day, he'd know enough to not get drunk.
  7. Watch Still, We Believe and then pop in Faith Rewarded right after. Good stuff.
  8. The benchmark to which all gms aspire. In Theo we trust! That picture is ripe for some photoshop too, to bad I dont have access to it right now.
  9. Boston has a basketball team? What?
  10. Why I think Kim has potential: his 02-03 stats: 2002 ARI 72 0 8 3 36 0 0 84.0 64 20 19 5 26 92 2.04 1.07 .208 2003 ARI 7 7 1 5 0 0 0 43.0 34 17 17 6 15 33 3.56 1.14 .214 2003 BOS 49 5 8 5 16 0 0 79.1 70 38 28 6 18 69 3.18 1.11 .230 and his career against the yankees (against whom everyone thinks he tanks, thinking about the 01 series) Career vs.NYY 8 0 1 2 2 0 0 9.0 10 5 4 1 3 10 4.00 1.44 .278 10 k's per 9 innings against the yankees in his career is enough to show, to me at least, that Kim isnt garbage like so many portray him as. He has 10.85 k9 throughout his entire career, something that I've always been impressed with. He also has a winning record and a career BAA of .206. He has the stuff great closers are made of, but he lacks to mentality. Sort of like Derek Lowe. In my mind he can be a better version of Derek Lowe, except he's asian and he throws funny. But if the sox don't want to take the risk, I dont understand. I'm just saying that the potential is there.
  11. I dont like the idea of captain. It's only the what, 3rd time since 1923 (I think thats right) that the sox have had a captain. Sure, Tek can be the leader, but I prefer it to be unofficial and unspoken. This recognizes him as captain, making it too official and weird for me. Its too yankees-ish. He's like Derek Jeter now, and I dont like that. The Red Sox arent a team to have a captain. They're the idiots, remember? And while I'm glad we got Tek signed and gave the proverbial finger (kinda, not really) to Boras, I hope he isnt singled out too much by this, as captain intangibles is by yankees fans.
  12. I agree. The potential to be good is there in Kim, but he certainly isnt exhibiting it right now. I think he could even work out as a starter, and I've made this argument beore. That said, I still wouldn't be opposed to a trade (everyone knows he isnt helping us at all right now).
  13. Merry Christmas, as was said before. And ACL, sheesh, you have Ps2 goodies and xbox goodies there. Looks like you wont be going outside for a while.
  14. Holy hell. If this is true, this is the ABSOLUTE funniest thing I have EVER seen. He sent me a pm too, which looked like it was written by an 11 year old vietnamese whore, saying he was yankeehater's friend. I cant believe Steve went along with this, thats awesome!
  15. Hey Ryan, its a shame that I wasnt able to welcome you to the site, sorry about that. I'm impressed. At 16 (judging from the '88 in your email, which I can certainly go ahead in post if you decide to rejoin this site) you certainly know how to start a ruckus. Congratulations. No, really. Anyway, your group of friends has to honestly be the most pathetic...whatever, I'm not getting into it. You're probably just bitter you dont have schilling. Enjoy the ban.
  16. And we're sorry that your team hasnt won since 2000. Psh.
  17. 1) Welcome to the site 2) Now about your avatar...
  18. There were other factors really. He was just an all around idiot to begin with.
  19. Cornroyo is too good for trade bait, youkilis rules proposed a trade to me that would bring Soriano to Boston involving Arroyo that I might consider: arroyo-bellhorn-lester for soriano but it also includes giving up lester. Anyway, in my mind, arroyo is #5 and wake goes to default long reliever/ spot starter spot.
  20. Awesome. Our rotation is now more than respectable, and the yankee fans can stop their semi-baseless gloating. Of course, this means that that Randy Johnson rumor just went out the window (I think), but I'll take it.
  21. The most appropriate use of smilies in this forum's history!
  22. Id' pay 50 million dollars for 10 years out of my own pocket just to see the look on the yankees and their fans' faces. Holy crap, imagine what a blow this would be to their collective egos, even if there is not much truth to it. It makes no ecomical sense really, I'd rather see money devoted to Wade Miller, but the shock value and pure hilarity of it all will make it worthwhile, even if Randy wouldn't do too well (as I expected him to not pitch well in NY if he did sign there).
