  1. I disagree. The main goal for the sox this offseason was to get pitching, and we did it. Varitek was important, sure, but we could have survived without him. Next year sure would have looked bleak had we not signed miller, wells, and clement.
  2. That's what I'm working on. Something seems to be correupt, and I dont know what it is. It'll get fixed soon though.
  3. Credit goes to Noah with the new banner....he did a great job.
  4. Your signature, on the other hand.....
  5. You're welcome. Glad you like it. I'll just move this to feedback I guess... And I'm working on some more improvements...
  6. Thats what the game threads are for. We have them open during games, check out the forum in the talksox red sox forum (all the threads are closed now).
  7. It'll only take a few days to get used to this I think, and I'll be making some additions to make it much easier. And for people reading this: avatars need to be reuploaded/resized, but I'm having trouble with the avatar functions, im working on fixing them.
  8. Yes, we did switch, but what you see right now is not the final version at all. There will be mega changes, and the current avatar problem will eventually be fixed.
  9. What do you think of the new site so far. Please include suggestions and observations. The skin in particular will be heavily modified, so what you see right now is not at all what you will get in a few days time.
  10. Thats pretty cool. Baseball is awesome because of statistics like these. I wonder if you look at a pitcher (say wake or pedro) over his Red Sox career, if you'd see a noticeable difference in hits saved with this year's team and its improved defense.
  11. I always really liked the Cardinals for some reason.
  12. Yea, Colorado is a great place for a struggling pitcher to improve. I know he has no say in the matter, but his career is pretty much ruined if he moves to Colorado, no one will want him afterwards and he will have no chance to develop.
  13. Welcome, glad to see that you (unlike many of the people we get waltzing through this forum) can put together a cohesive and coherent sentence. I also updated the link in your post to make it direct to your site.
  14. Account fixed. 2090 can be annoying, but he warrants no ban.
  15. No, but they will lead to easier moderator controls, and therefore faster dealing with those who would fail that IQ test.
  16. There is an ignore option in invisionboard. Its on usercp, then click the thing that says ignore list on the left hand column.
  17. Torre will be fired if he doesnt get the ring, I'm sure he'll be run out of town before anyone stops and thinks about what they're doing. New York is a town so spoiled by success that anything less than a world series every year is considered failure. This is precisely why I hate the yankees and their fans. Its that damn air of superiority which I hate, and which will ultimately lead to Joe being fired if (and when) the yankees fail to win next year. As for Lupica, he is a good writer. He can get annoying on sportscenter or ESPNEWS sometimes (his voice is kind of aggravating), but he has good ideas. He wouldn't do well in Boston because he isnt enough of a nay-sayer. He speaks the truth and hardly ever preaches the end of the world.
  18. Wow, this is awesome, thanks for posting. I'll definitely be sure to watch all of '75. As for you too not having NESN, sorry. You should definitely look into getting it somehow, its worth every penny you may have to spend.
  19. Welcome. And feel free to use periods individually, no use for elliptical dots all the time.
  20. I picked up on the double entendre there, nicely done. As for vazquez, I'm not entirely sure where he'd fit in, unless the deal included (as it most probably would) cornroyo. Imagine how deep that would make our rotation, we'd have too much pitching to know what to do with ourselves. But I'd like to hang on to Arroyo, he can certainly develop into something more productive than Vazquez will be next year (I guess thats where Theo and I disagree?).
  21. Maybe some people are confused about this, this should clear it up: http://www.talksox.com/index.php?showtopic=1018 And sarasoxfan, I think you may be correct about this Ted Williams fellow.
  22. Ain't it the truth.
  23. 200 for 10 is absolutely ridiculous. If he's asking for that he deserves to be ignored until he fires Boras.
  24. Members of talksox nation (I didnt really know how to begin this...), soon, Talksox will be implementing numerous changes in order to make posting here easier and more fun for its members. We will be making a change from invisionboad 1.3 to Vbulletin 3.0.3, a more up to date and high tech forum software. All information currently in the database will be moved to the new forum, so you need not worry about your post counts, usernames, or passwords. We will do our best to maintain the look and feel of talksox, and most of the upgrades will take place under the surface (but they will still be beneficial for us all). The downside to all of this is the money. While we'd love to claim that the money made off of the adertisements on the forum is enough to buy all the software we want as well as our own private yacht, this is unfortunately not the case. We will be able to cover some, but not all of the cost with our advertising revenue. The vbulletin software costs $160, and we may also need to spend extra money for a new skin for the forum and a conversion from this software to the next. This could run us up to $220. This is the part where those willing to help comes in. Any money raised by our members towards this goal would be greatly appreciated. It is certainly not key (if no one donates the upgrades will still take place), but it would be appreciated. To make a donation (however small, everything helps), please use the paypal link at the bottom of every page of this site. If you plan on using a credit card through paypal, please pm yeszir for the credit card enabled paypal address. Expect to see these upgrades soon. Hopefully nothing will be messed up in the process, and we'll all benefit from a thoroughly improved message board.
