  1. At least the transition is going smoothly, right? http://cbsnewyork.com/topstories/topstoriesny_story_010111516.html
  2. There is nothing I hate more than the entire moneyball craze. OPS has its merits, sure, and the whole Jamesian philosophy can work sometimes, but building a team solely around the moneyball philosphy is crap (just ask Billy Beane). Outs as precious commodities you must pretect at all costs makes no sense to me. We wouldn't have won anything last year had it not been for stolen bases, and I'd rather see Ortiz hacking away than trying to draw walks. The sox aren't a moneyball team. They combine SOME aspects of SOME of the ideas present in the book and in Beane's head- but they make it work.
  3. I've never even been to calee-fornia, so take this advice with a grain of salt, but I distinctly remember someone calling Dodger stadium something along the lines of "the purest baseball shrine I have ever seen." I even think it was a Boston sports writer, who said that Dodger stadium, despite its 1960s-ishness was better than Fenway when it comes to watching baseball. Of course, if you'd rather see good baseball, go watch the LA Angels of Aneheim. Sitting anywhere is fun really in most parks, especially when you havent been. And there are no obstructed views to worry about.
  4. Hehe, I made this thing a while ago when someone made a post "what about my boy," asking about Crespo. I dont think enough people saw it.
  5. Our pitching problems are solved!
  6. When I first read the title I thought "Dodgers or Angels." Anyway, he's bound to go to the first team that offers him anything. This is the downside of having a greedy hold-out-for-later agent, isnt it Derek? And 9 million is still too much for him. The Dodgers could bump it down to 6 and still sign him.
  7. Boohoohoo. The whole world is anti-yankees. Get over it.

That was sarcasm. The man is the "leader of the free world", yet Sanda Bullock can manage to donate 1 million. Dont give me crap about his 250,000 salary. He has more than enough left over from the campaign.

Bush donated 10 grand, the hero!
  10. Exactly. Not to mention the fact that it was a completely meaningless game and it was cold.
  11. He's pitched 13 games there in his career, so it can't really be a lot.
  12. Foxboro is far. That's the whole reason I gave them away in the first place.
  13. At least he doesn't sound like a type of throat losenger or some tropical STD.
  14. And Zenny, I assume you know about the ignore list, yes?
  15. Sounds eerily reminscent of Dan Duquette, to tell you the truth. Great to see that its the yankees we're talking about for once.
  16. Not to be a nay-sayer, but if Clement OR Miller win 15 games, we're back to where we were last year, except this time around we have 6 legit starting pitchers instead of 5. Some wins will be lost in the shuffle somewhere, right?
  17. Thats cool, we now have users from both Bostons. Welcome to the site too. Just wondering how you came to be a sox fan living over in the UK?
  18. Are you counting Kim as the "number 6 starter"? If so, that isnt very looking to me I dont think. It shows how our rotation isnt severely degraded (or degraded much at all), but its not great news, is it? We have six legit starters this time around, and their wins dont match our 5 and a third starters from last year. Sure, some played for bad teams (Wells), but still. I'm not freaking out or anything, I'm just wondering.
  19. Yea, I let out a muffled scream too.
  20. I don't even know which sport this is. Basketball?
  21. Hooray? :dunno:
  22. About shea: He was so completely and utterly overshadowed by Soriano that year it was kinda funny. And to think, some people actually thought he had the same potential as Sori. Sheesh.
  23. Welcome to the site!
  24. You've added this to all of your posts. Most likely to delay the inevitable ban that's coming your way (again).
  25. I was hearing that they'd need to spend $120 mil to get him away from Houston, but good for them I guess. They're going all out trying to win (but spending too much money in the process). at least one New York team shows its fans that they know how to win, right?
