Bryan Bello once again ran into trouble in the first inning, giving up 6 runs, on 5 hits and 3 walks, and hitting Gunnar Henderson in said inning. Bello only lasted 5 innings in today’s game, allowing a total of 8 earned runs. Ultimately, this led to another Red Sox loss, as they fell 8-2 to the O’s.

Hours after the game, Dan Roche reported that Brayan Bello had been optioned to Triple-A Worcester. Red Sox fans across social media have been rejoicing at the team's decision.

Who can fill Bello’s spot in the rotation? Jake Bennet is a likely candidate to fill that role for the Red Sox. Bennet has started 9 games, holding a 3-2 record with a 1.60 ERA and a 1.017 WHIP, for the WooSox.

Jake Bennet was called up to Boston earlier in the season, posting a 1-1 record, a 4.35 ERA, and a 1.452 ERA, in 2 games started.

I for the life of me don't understand why they let Bello start instead of giving him a starter and having him come out in the 2nd inning.

I can't explain it, but the results are clear, Bello performs when he has an opener.  Not sure if AAA can change that or if you just except him for who he is and roll him out in the 2nd.

I was stunned when I saw that he was starting.  Why mess with something that was working?  No I would have continued to trot out bodies until they found someone capable of getting 3 outs in the first inning, Bello was nearly lights out in his role.  We put this decision with the clown show that is the 3rd base coach and it is clear to me that we are being run by amateurs.

The Red Sox lost their best opener when they let the Bern Man go.🤔it not like BBB can’t pitch once you get him past the ist inning. He’s not a rookie, so I don’t know how going to Woo is going to help him from being a head case.
