He was an adequate backup, better than some of the starters.

He has been a top 15-20 batter vs LHPs for 3-4 years. That's his role.

Good for Refsnyder, who spent the bulk of his career bouncing back and forth between AAA and MLB for multiple organizations before Boston became the first team to give him a guaranteed contract and established him as an actual Major Leaguer.  And his current one year deal in Seattle will pay him more money than he made in his entire career to date…

Since joining the Sox in 2022, Refsnyder hit .924 v LHPs. If he could have reversed his splits, he'd be an all star player, since he'd have had so many more PAs and qualified among the league leaders in 3 of those 4 years. (The guy hit lefties better than Betts and many other studs.)

His .924 OPS placed him 7th among all MLB players with 500+ PAs.

Since 2024, his OPS was .949, so he was getting even better as he aged. Only 4 MLB players had a higher OPS than .949 and 280+ PAs. His OPS beat out Schwarber (6th) and maybe our "new Ref," Romy (7th.)

He also had some very big hits along the way.

I wish him the best of luck, when he's not playing the Sox.

Refsnyder played his role with Sox to a perfection. The crowded outfield included him though. In the ideal world Abreau plays more against lefty pitchers and does well, or Campbell ( looks like Sox are transitioning him to the outfield) picks up the Refsynder ABs and does well. I wish Refsynder well, but the Sox weren't paying him what he ended up getting from Seattle.
