Splinter, I hope you are up to the pressure of getting us a sweep and extending this winning streak. Time for young Bello to show some dominance and further solidify the pitching rotation. He should be the strength behind Houck.

If at the beginning of ST if we knew one of the top 2 or 3 rotations in baseball , and an over .500 record with Bello, Houck, Pivetta, Criswell and Crawford there may have been some questions, like where did Giolito and Whitlock go ?

Giolito and Whitlock are headed for the ash heap of Red Sox history. Whitlock, already a TJ surgery recipient, appears headed back for more. Giolito's procedure is like TJ, but less invasive and therefore more quickly recovered from. My guess is he will return next year long enough to need the real thing and be gone another year or two.

SOX go for the sweep. Let's do it.

Not my preferred lineup, but Cora knows best.

mlb tv just showed Harper and Stott, Phillies 1b and 2b, stare at a very high pop up that landed between them with neither one making any effort to catch it. Reportedly, the both speak English, but maybe not. In Harper's defense, the ball landed about 3' from Stott.

Strongly agree this game is mostly about Bello. Last night Criswell was hit hard in the first inning and gave up 2 runs--but no runs in the next 4.1 innings. Impressive.

Texas leadoff batter who turns out to be an artist at getting his popups to land safely, has just scored the Rangers first run.

And here's Jamie!

Ok, I will say it. MLKB should adopt a rule that jewelry, chains , necklaces and other personal adornments should not be worn during games. It is ridiculous and Rafaela heavy weight gold/diamonds prevent him from catching up to a fastball and helping the team. cannot wait for some player to actually suffer an injury as a result of their ostentatious display of money.

Bello continues to show a lack of command and control , giving up 2 runs with no outs in the 2nd. He is a thrower at this stage . Maybe Bailey does not speak Spanish, because everyone else got the message.

Completely agree. The jewelry is thoroughly unprofessional. And you can bet the players union is insisting it is a basic human right.

Maybe tonight Cora doesn't know best. Ref has the only Sox hit in 4 innings.

Pepiot is outpitching Bello because his command is way, way, way better.

Did I just use reverse mojo on Pepiot? Hamilton got the BB, and now there's a mob scene at the mound.

When Bello walks a guy, everyone shrugs and says, "normale."

Back to back BB's by a Rays pitcher. Catastrophe.

Grissom is the worst baserunner in the entire history of the sport. And he might have been helped by the Sox 1b coach.

It comes under the 2nd amendment; the right to bear charms.

You won't see any base running as bad as Grissom just exhibited.

Grissom is a mental failure on multiple fronts. That was just stupid, although he will say, I thought they were going to catch it ( it did hit the warning track) and I was tagging to get to 2nd. What was the coach saying ???

Abreu gets lucky. Now let's see if Wong can capitalize.

He does!! Sweet single and 2 more runs in. Grissom, our fearless one, scored all the way from 3d base.

Cora knows. Boy, does Cora know. 5-3 Sox in the 5th and the Rays are on their 3d pitcher.

Even our outs look nice.

Great, great line, moon.

What I love is the 2d straight game of coming from behind--to say nothing of 5 runs or more in 4 straight games.

If this hitting keeps up, the worthless, no good, underpaid, low down yankee (northerners) Sox just might be climbing back into the AL East race.
