Maybe Devers tripping over the 3B bag on the double steal could be an error if it wasn't so funny

I almost pointed to that but didn't have the heart.

Devers tripped, but somehow--I think the ball hit the baserunner--got the ball back to prevent the baserunner from advancing (beyond 2d and 3d). If Devers catches the ball, the guy stealing 3b is still safe because the baserunner got a huge jump when he realized Bello was ignoring him.

The is also true. Nothing really happened other than it looked 2023 Red Sox as hell.

Just turned the game on in time to see Duvall doing his thing. Man he has been a fun hitter to watch. Him and Turner are why I watch the games now.

That cutter Civale is throwing is very effective.

That's what he struck Casas out with--a cutter right down the freaking middle.

Huge hit by Duvall.

Yeah, I think Casas was looking fastball there. I thought initially it was a change-up that got him.

Did you see Xander’s adventure yesterday? Stole second, went to third on a bad throw, center fielder over threw 3rd, Xander broke for home, throw bounced off something behind 3rd straight to the catcher and Xander was a dead duck at home.

X must be wondering what happened in SD this season. Total flop, but his financial future is assured. Good for him

Bello pitches 3 straight very efficient, effective innings. Batters need to pick him up better and overcome the first.

That was a truly desperate bunt attempt by McGuire--and another K for Civale.

Bottom of the Sox order strikes out on their collective second at bats vs. Civale.

He sure did--and very well done.

The lineup, on the other hand, stinks. They don't get that 1 run without the back to back walks.

Doing exactly what the guys in the 4th inning didn’t do. They swung at a bunch of balls. Urias was the only one who fell behind swinging at strikes.

The Sox lineup has 1 single and 11 K's in 5 innings. Abysmal.

Civale should reach 100 pitches this inning . Maybe the Sox can get into the Rays BP and do their late inning magic.

3 ground ball hits, 2 of which were not particularly hard hit, just hit into good (or bad) spots.

There is a big difference between crappy pitching and bad results. You really should learn the difference.

This post is looking better and better and the first inning is looking more and more like bad luck for Bello, who has been terrific in all four innings since.

There are days when it's just hard to believe Devers is worth all that money. 3d time facing Civale, and he strikes out on a pitch right down the middle.

Devers' traveling s*** show continues. The guy has the most misleading offensive stats in MLB.

What I see is very little ability to adjust.

Casas right now looks a whole lot better.

He’s not a smart hitter. He just hacks, which works some of the time, but can and will be exploited by good big league pitchers. It’s who he is.

He could benefit a lot from a guy like Ortiz, who was a very smart hitter. There was an article in the Globe the other day that Papi said only one Sox player has had regular contact with him this year. It’s Dalbec.

Big first half, very little since. I was surprised by Ortiz's comments that only Dalbec talks to him much about hitting. Maybe Rafi needs to also
