Sox have to determine if they think they have a team that can win a playoff series IF they make it. Paxton is a FA after the season. With Sale and Whitlock coming back, and if they can land another starter, they may be tempted to trade Paxton if they could get a good package of players or one very good player for him. It may be the smart move to make but it won't be popular. I would be ok with it if they get a really good player.

 

Both Sale and Whitlock have proven they can't be relied on to stay healthy. Trading the team's best starter is not a good look for a franchise that has already had some bad looks.

Has anyone noticed how well Braiser and Diekmann are pitching. Supposedly Braiser is now reborn after learning and being told by the Dodgers to throw a cutter. No one on Sox staff ever suggested a cutter????

 

 

 

Reminds me of the days of Dick Radatz. Radatz threw a fastball no one could hit and the pitching coach decided Dick should add a curve ball to his resume. The result was Radatz hurt his arm and was never the same. Sometimes a player gets good advice and sometimes not.

I find him to be commendable. Yes, hits, but no dingers, and he does bear down in the tough situations. He singlehandedly has kept the Sox in this game. The other 9 guys who go to the plate, not so much.
