Crawford vs Webb(RH)

It's west coast time. Not the best coast for the SOX. Again the SOX will face a good RH pitcher and, hopefully, continue their success against RH's.

The day off yesterday should help nullify any jet lag concerns.

Go SOX!

Webb is a good pitcher who has gotten hit a little hard at times this year. Last time out, he gave up 6 ER in 1.1 to the Nats of all teams.

My experience, flying across 8 time zones 6 or so times a year for 5 years, is that going east is much harder to adapt to than going west.

Interesting. Thanks.

Duran LF OPS vs. righties .883

Yoshida DH .880

Turner 2B .791

Devers 3B .835

Duvall CF .913

Casas 1B .850

Verdugo RF .831

Wong C .782

Chang SS .552

Cora going with his best bats against probably the Giants best starter (his last start notwithstanding).

It would be nice if Verdugo would come out of his funk. It’s not so much the results; his body language at the plate is terrible. Have to wonder if lack of any progress on a contract extension might be affecting him. He also hasn’t been the same since he went on that bereavement leave just before the All-Star break.

Nice to see Casas move up ahead of Verdugo. He needs to hit higher while on this ridiculous tear

Duran and especially Yoshida both looked like crap in their first at bats--against mostly 92-93 fastballs. Edited by Maxbialystock

Good thing Casas batted 6th because he had a man on 2d when he hit the double. If he had batted 1st, 2d, or 3d, it would have been wasted.

I have been down on Duvall for literally months, so I sure hope I get to eat those words. That was a terrific double, much like his dinger in the last game.

Casas seems to have the only lefty Sox bat in the game. Duran, Yoshida, Devers, and Dugo looked completely hapless against righty Webb.

I give Crawford absolutely zippo style points. Fortunately, what counts is what the ball does when it gets to the plate, and tonight Crawford looks really sharp--the breaking balls especially.

Great ball park even though I liked the name Candlestick a whole lot more.

Hold it right there, dipstick. Did you miss that line drive single by Duran? Too bad he got nailed on the steal. On that slide it sure looked like a damp infield, which definitely slowed down both the slide and the run to 2b. All it takes is a little extra hosing before the umps show up.

Must be nice. It was over 100 in Maryland today and felt like 115.

90 down here in Greensboro, but humid and uncomfortable.

Really need the offense here tonight.

Webb is their best pitcher, so right now I'm delighted to get the first run.

Crawford has looked pretty sharp.

This park was never called Candlestick. It’s been around about 25 years and IIRC, it was first called Pac-Bell Park.

Candlestick did remain the home of the 49ers until maybe a decade ago, and it has since been torn town.

If he slid head first he might’ve been safe. I don’t know though, very awkward play

I agree with the announcers; if that throw is actually on the base, Duran is safe. The throw literally hit Duran in the face as the fielder caught it.

It’s actually the first time Duran has been thrown out by a catcher; his previous caught stealing occurred when he went as the pitcher threw to first and the throw from the first baseman beat him to second.

You still have to find a way and beat good pitching. Anyway let’s hope they find a way.

I know it was never Candlestick because I looked it up. But it reminds me of Candlestick, which I thought was one of the best names ever for a ballpark.

Right now the guys trying to find a way to beat good pitching are the Giants.
