FWIW, I'm not buying your little quote at the bottom. For one thing, you start out by misspelling redemption. Second, you emphasize great defense over great hitting, which is just silly and never, ever applied to a Sox World Series team. I love defense, but the bread and butter for winning MLB teams are pitching and hitting, and for the Sox that order is normally reversed to hitting and pitching. Third, you don't even use the word hitting, but instead say "generate runs in more than one way," and that suggests basestealing, bunting, etc, which the 2004, 2007, 2013, and 2018 Sox WS teams did not emphasize. Fourth, you emphasize a "top end catcher," which the Sox just might have--jury is still out--in Connor Wong, but which they did not have on their WS teams.

I have one gripe with your sarcasm, and his name is Jason Varitek. Even when being sarcastic, you put some respect on his name.

This team has so many injuries right now on their starting staff. How long can they survive this? They’re playing lousy teams right now which helps but they need their arms.

You’re dead right about Varitek for 2004 and 2007. In 2013 it was Saltalamachia and 2018 Vazquez.

Oh no, a sports fan made a spelling mistake, alert the Geneva Convention

All the playoff teams have pitching and hitting. You don't get to the top of your division without it. The best teams have pitching, hitting and defense. Good D is a difference maker. evidence: 2014 and 2015 Royals, who were only average hitters but made the WS twice in a row and won once, on the back of top end D.

Absolutely untrue. All 4 of those teams had speed as well as power. 04 had Damon, Roberts and OCab, 07 had Coco, Ellsbury, Lugo and Pedey, 13 had the Flyin' Hawiian, and 18 had a whole outfield full of speed.

That's only true in 13 where Ross and Salty platooned. Tek was high end in 04 and 07, CV is a top end catcher, around the league, ask anyone who the top 5 defenders behind the dish are, CV will be in the list somewhere. He was hitting at a high rate too in 18.

In 2018 Vazquez WAR was -0.8 and Sandy Leon's was -0.5. Vazquez OPS was .540 and Sandy's was .511. So, no, not top end, either of them.

I’d prefer it be by 10 games with the Yanks ending the season at or below .500.

They are going through a stretch like we did- finding different ways to lose.

one game hurts more, give them plenty of second guessing to cry over and all winter to blame shudda-wudda-coulda

I of course have a contrarian view of the Yankees. While I love to beat them, I don't hate them simply because to have a great rivalry actually requires two good teams. Plus Yankees is a great name for baseball team, almost as good as the Dodgers. As a team name, red sox is just, well, pedestrian.

I guess alternate nicknames could have been LOBSTERS, BEANS, GREEN MONSTERS,and REVERES. whatever. Can anyone think of other potential nicknames?
