Texas is a s***** state but the Rangers are a very good team. The SOX are not.

By pulling Duran and letting Yoshida play LF, Cora definitely weakened the outfield defense. If Duran had been in CF on that last play, he would have caught what Duvall backed off of catching, leaving it to Dugo, who had to go too far to get it. If Duran had been in LF, he would have done a better job on that hit that resulted in a run scoring.

 

Casas, the guy whose bat replaces Duran's, has of course been hitless. Duran has the highest OPS on the Sox against righties.

 

Jacques really got hosed by that putrid defense.

The overhaul should happen a lot sooner than that. Chang and Story are both due back by August. Another part of the overall would be to play Duvall less. I honestly can't remember him make even one really good play in the outfield this season. And, since he returned, his hitting stinks.

I agree with all of this, I just don’t think it’ll matter enough to save this season, especially with all the pitching injuries.

Hamilton had all the time in the world and slightly shorter throw to 1b, and he still threw it in the dirt. Plus his OPS is .472. He is, what, the 6th SS for the Sox this season after Story, who hasn't played an inning, Chang, Kike, Reyes, and I believe Arroyo.

Hopefully, Story returns before the TDL so the FO can trade Kike after eating half his salary. To trade Kluber the SOX FO would have to eat all his salary, so they might as well DFA him.
