Not Devers fault at all. I've read right here on Talksox that the umpires have no idea where the strike zone is. If we only had robo-umps, hitters would never swing at bad pitches. And pitchers, rejuvenated by getting a fair shake on strikes, would paint the corners pitch after pitch after pitch. Annie Savoy and Walt Whitman had it wrong.

The way the SOX have handled Cole in the past(4.55ERA against the SOX) I figured they'd score some runs.

Pretty normal for him over the last 6 weeks. He appears pretty much lost at the plate.

 

Before tonight his September OPS was .967. August was .515. Season is .880.

Bang for the buck comes before free agency. Thus the interest in drafting and developing and even trading for young talent.

Earlier this year, I would have disagreed. But two things have happened since then. Mostly, his hitting stroke is back. But in addition I think he's found a home in RF, as weird as that sounds/reads. He looks way better in RF than he ever did in LF.

 

Another Sox line drive for an easy out.
