Sawamura has a 2.55 ERA.

I must have missed a big change in Old School thinking or something.

He only pitches low leverage innings. His statcast is ugly. I don't care about Old School thinking.

The same can be said about Brasier.

But the Sox are not going to revamp their bullpen to the point where they have 8 pitchers better than Sawamura and Brasier. Especially with the injuries in the rotation that likely keep Crawford starting at least until Wacha returns. If the Sox add one pen arm to join Houck, Whitlock and Schreiber as The Reliables and have a bottom 4 of Sawamura, Brasier, Strahm and Davis (in whatever order you like, that’s probably about as good as it will get. Maybe they’ll add two arms like last year, but not likely both will fit in with that top 3. One will probably be some sort of fungible depth arm like Robles.

With the injuries piling up, there is less of a reason to getting rid of guys. However, I think you can move on from Brasier and Sawamura and not really worry about it. They aren't long term high leverage options. You can get similar pitchers every offseason. They are the definition of fungible. I want guys like Ort, Kelly and Bazardo to get a shot.

And they all still can. Ort is still on the 40 man.

As injuries pile up, Bazardo can get back on it and Kelly should be able to join him at some point…

We may end up putting Kike on the 60 day IL and add Kelly, Bastardo or German to the 40.

Broken record here: DFA Diekman for another slot.

I’m more open to DFAing Brasier than before, but he’s not on the top of my list.

If Kike goes on the 60 day, another option is adding an OF…

Also, we just like talking about this stuff because that bullpen is just underwhelming AF.

I'm not sure we see German this soon. More likely it's Kelly or Bazardo. Diekman and Valdez are easy DFA's IMO. Nothing to lose there. At least Sawamura and Brasier look ok as 7th/8th relievers.

From outside the org? Stewart and Davis aren't great options. Mieses to see if his bat provides some sort of spark? Fitzgerald isn't hitting like April and can't play in Toronto.

True. Cordero is not doing himself any favours.

85th Hard Hit

85th Sprint Speed

79th Avg Exit Velo

82nd Barrel %

He's still getting putting hitting the ball well...

5th Whiff%

12th OAA

4th K%

when he's actually making contact.

His pan may have already flashed…

He's definitely trending downwards with xwOBA. He started above water, but it's now like a stock market crash.

Yes. From outside.

Joey Gallo would be an upgrade but a third team and separate deal would have to happen. Maybe more like. Tommy Pham/Robbie Grossman type…

Grossman has been pretty bad this year. Pham is interesting, but seems to be bad for a different reason.
