IMHO while I like Cora, I think he is the main responsible along with his coaches. I think the manager-player line has been trespassed. He obviously has to defend his players but wonder whether he raises his tone in the locker room after a series like this. It seems to me, he doesn't.

Where are the player leaders?

Maybe some have tried, but it's not working.

You know, it's not easy winning when 4 of your starting rotation are injured. Getting pumped up only can bring you so far.

That could explain a high ERA. But idiotic baserunning and dumb plays like Bogaerts did today are more indicative of a lack of focus.

And that’s Cora’s job, to keep his team focused.

Yes, every bonehead play is Cora's fault.

No doubt, we have seen some lack of focus, and yes, the manager is where the buck stops, but the players have to take some responsibility, too.

The revolving IL door might be a distraction, too. It's like a AAA team, right now.

I didn’t say it’s ALL Cora’s fault. As you wrote, the players need to be responsible for their play too. However it’s the managers job to keep his players heads in the game. You don’t see the Rays playing unsound ball. I think Cora needs to make an example of a player to get their attention. Belichick has done that. So has the former Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy. It works.

As for the team being a AAA team-that’s almost entirely limited to the pitching staff. Besides Kiki what other important position player is out?

Story.

I know you never said it's all on Cora.

The Rays have a ton of guys hurt, too.

This sucks for all of us.

Field managers are important, look what Showalter did with the Mets even through major injuries. Every championship team in every sport has a strong bench to pick up some slack during injuries. Our management stinks, period. No excuse for dumb losses.

Showalter's teams have never been in a World Series, not one.

He does tend to get off to a roaring start though.

"Stinks. Period."

Seems like some are back on the road to giving up.
