On the surface, this makes sense, and certainly they could have had more chances for RBIs had Kike done better getting on base, but what about Devers?

These are the team leaders in PAs with Men on Base and RISP...

Men on Base

146 Bogey 28 rbi

131 Verdugo 32

129 JD 23

129 Story 42

120 Devers 35

95 JBJ 21

94 Kike 20

Kike & JBJ both get more rbi per PA w Men on Base than JD & Bogey.

RISP

83 Verdugo 25 rbi

82 Bogey 27

77 JD 20

75 Story 37

62 Devers 24

62 Dalbec 12 (hideous!)

61 Kike 20

60 JBJ 21

56 Vaz 20

Again, those last 3 guys do better per PA than most of the others.

I do think the big eyeball test FAIL lies on JD Martinez. in terms of being the right guy hitting with men on base , including RISP. Dalbec remains on the highball express to NoWhereland. After his late season contributions in 2021, he has regressed .

Well this settles it. Time to move JDM and Bogey to the bottom of the order and move up JBJ , Verdugo and Vas to 3-4-5 in the order

DeVAZtating! All VAZ needs is love.

Doesn’t get enough on here, and has come up with some big hits the past few years.

Drats !! Houck denied the role as head Saver . He'll never get the chance with this hard hitting 8th inning before they wake up team.

He isn’t great but he does his job for the most part. I have no worries with Vaz

It's worse after today for JDM. He bats 9th from now on.

It's a save situation, now.

In all seriousness, f*** Danish. Now Houck can skip tomorrow trying to finish this one.

Danish has been okay for most of the year, but come on!

These walks before homers are killing me.

And how many 9 hole hitters have hit big homers vs us, this season?

Really tough situation for Houck here. This is going to require great pitching and tons of guts. He's coming in with nobody on base, 2 men out, and a 2 run lead.

If he gets this save, think he's a shoo-in for the All-Star Game.

Once Houck warmed up especially the 2nd time he should have been in the game.

What is your obsession with the anti Houck propaganda?

This is my theory on one inning relievers. Once they hit 20+ pitches, you need to get them out in front of the next hitter. Maybe like the third time through the lineup for starters, the effectiveness of these guys slides like wet mud after they throw the 20th pitch
