Okay! There's the runner moved over to third with less than 2 outs.

Let's see if we can score, "the Old Fashioned Way!"

He seems to go through some funks, but he rights the ship, quickly. Those 4 walks were to the first 10 batters, and he hasn't walked anyone, since.

10 Ks out of 21 outs is damn good.

With Eovaldi on the shelf and Wacha seemingly hitting a little rough patch, he's pitching like our ace, now.

(I hope I didn't jinx him- like 700's reverse jinx.)

I'm going to remember this on Pivetta's next start.

Once again production from the leadoff hitter. Maybe Kike should go back to the job he had with the Dodgers as 4th OF, or 5th IF when he comes back. Watch Moon’s ears perk up.

I've been down on Vaz, a lot, over his career, especially concerning his inability to "whisper to pitchers," but his offense, many times outweighed or evened up that, IMO. He dipped a bit for a couple seasons, but it's nice to see his bat coming alive over the last 4-6 weeks.

Refsnyder needs more innings/games. Sox outfielders this year can't field and hit, but Refsnyder can--so far, anyway.

I do recall a lot of bitching about Kike leading off, last June, too. Then silence over the remainder of the season, and deafening silence during the playoffs.

Maybe history repeats itself.

Maybe not.

Refsnyder must stay on the 26. No question- now.

I disagree. Refsnyder is bad fit for this outfield. He can field and hit, and none of those other guys can.

Hernandez's overall lack of production and OBP is one reason JDM and Bogey are low on RBI's this year. Even though the leadoff hitter doesn't lead off every inning, he does always bat in front of your best 2-3 hitters.

Keep waiting for Kike, and Bobby D to repeat last year all you want, but their are more options this year that they might not get the chance.

If you asked me who John Schreiber was 3 months ago, I literally wouldn’t be able to tell you. Now I trust this guy more than anyone in our pen

The Sox outfield stinks, period. If Refsnyder can continue to hit and field, he will be the only one.

On the surface, this makes sense, and certainly they could have had more chances for RBIs had Kike done better getting on base, but what about Devers?

These are the team leaders in PAs with Men on Base and RISP...

Men on Base

146 Bogey 28 rbi

131 Verdugo 32

129 JD 23

129 Story 42

120 Devers 35

95 JBJ 21

94 Kike 20

Kike & JBJ both get more rbi per PA w Men on Base than JD & Bogey.

RISP

83 Verdugo 25 rbi

82 Bogey 27

77 JD 20

75 Story 37

62 Devers 24

62 Dalbec 12 (hideous!)

61 Kike 20

60 JBJ 21

56 Vaz 20

Again, those last 3 guys do better per PA than most of the others.

So does this mean Houck for the Save in the 9th? Not sure I wouldn't let Schrieber go after the first guy based on the 8th inning performance. Good news is that Goldschmidt and Arenado are not likely to get up again

Gotta be Houck for the 9th. Not sure Schreiber is more than a 1 inning guy. He did his job, it’s on Houck

If they do get up again, we'll be behind, or t best, tied with bases loaded and 2 outs.

Schreiber has been a major find by Bloom. We got this guy off waivers!

I don’t even know what team he was on before Sox. Maybe I’m not as up to date on other teams as I used to be, but I have no idea who the hell he is

That’s what I mean the 8th inning guy faced their best hitters
