Personally, I'd have paid ERod more, so I do think it is team-friendly.

 

He could have gotten $18.4M/1 and may opt out after getting just $28M/2. That's essentially $18.4M + $9.6M for year 2.

 

If he stays for 5, he basically got $$59M/4 over the last 4 years of his deal.

 

He's not old.
