Yanks traded 6, 8, 12, 20, and 22 on BA’s mid season list, so not exactly blowing up the farm here. I’m tepid on the moves. I don’t think they gave up a ton while improving a bit. Gallo is a 2022 piece, so that’s one positive thing. Rizzo helps even out the lineup and gives that leadership component that the Yanks sorely lack for this year only. I’m intrigued to see who gets Voit, although he may be too damaged to move and stays as a 2022 piece

Dodgers deal off Gray and Ruiz, their #4 and #1 prospects and get 1.3 years of Turner and a stretch run from Scherzer. Scherzer steps into the void from Bauer's departure. Kershaw, Scherzer, Buehler, Urias, Gonsolin. May comes back some time next year. Maybe Bauer comes back next year. Edited by jacksonianmarch

Somebody tell me how the dodgers acquired Danny Duffy and max scherzer? Baseball is becoming a joke. Is the dodgers farm system this rich? This is ridiculous.

Are those things legit prospects ready to play? Frankly baseball is becoming a joke. The dodgers have become the lakers of MLB.

Starting to agree with most here… Bloom is getting taken to the woodshed! The clock is ticking… if tonight’s performance doesn’t scream out the need for a true 1-2 kinda guy something awful! And news flash… it’s not a guarantee Sale comes back and truly walks on water again! Get it together Bloom!!!

Sure would have been nice to have Rizzo for the Tampa Bay series what about Santana ? How about Cron ? Rafy is f***ing dinged up and we get Destroyed tonight annnnnnnnd Nothing ????????? WTF

Moon you are kinda the voice of reason but man what the hell are we waiting for huh ?

You obviously don't know my position.

The deadline is tomorrow. We were never going to trade enough to becoem faves over the Dodgers and Padres. Never.

We will make a move(s) to improve without hurting the future.

We will go for broke in a year or two, and look to surprise this October.

Sit back and enjoy the rest season we are having. Why bust a nut over nothing?

Did you really want us to outbid the Dodgers and piss away our future?

We just drafted a whizz and lose a bunch of salary, this winter.

Hopefully, you mean the State Pen.

I'd be fine trading or DFA'ing Richards, but I do think he's better than Workman & Andriese.

I've said all along, something like Gray and Santana or Boyd and Schoop. (a rental and a 1 more year guy)

That makes us better than NYY, TOR, TBR and about even with HOU & CWS while retaining our future goals intact.

Disagree, if you want, but my position is logical and valid.

This trade wasn’t about Scherzer. This trade was about Turner. Turner is on pace for a 6 WAR season. They now control him through 2022. Scherzer was icing on the cake. Ruiz was blocked. Smith isn’t arb eligible until 2023 and he’s on pace for a 5 war season, so Ruiz was gonna get dealt at some point. Scherzer slides into Bauer’s spot that can get filled second half of 2022 with May or Ferguson returning from TJS. They’re deep on the hill and Gray was passed as the top pitching prospect in the system by Miller.

Turner also fills their biggest hole in 2022 with everyone widely expecting Corey Seager to leave via FA and go to the Yankees. For 21, Turner gives them one hell of an infield with Muncy, Turner X2, Taylor and Seager plus Bellinger if need be. They’re stacked

They will likely extend Scherzer to longer than Turner.

It was about both and going for 3 rings in row.

Then reset and make room for the Sox in 2023.

The Red Sox have a developing but still not even average farm. Adding Mayer absolutely helps, but he’s one player. Durran has warts in his game, but needs a bit more time. Downs has faded. Casas has been worth the price of admission. To make a deal of the magnitude the Dodgers made would have rendered your cupboard bare. Bloom isn’t a one year wonder guy. He’s not building to have it all end next year. I don’t think he is entirely sold on the state of the Red Sox to go all in. He just isn’t. Too many variables and too little traceable assets below the big league level to make a major move. I keep telling you guys this, but you don’t seem to want to hear it. Bloom is a Friedman acolyte. Friedman has turned the Dodgers into a farm system machine and he uses that farm as currency to stay ahead of everyone else. Until Bloom gets that level of prospect cache, he isn’t making a big deal

In short, this was not the time to go all in.

There is still a lot of talent left out there.

I doubt we go as high as Berrios, but we can get something useful, and hopeful more than just a rental.

It’s absolutely not. The Sox top of the farm is looking better with Mayer, Durran, Casas and even Downs coming off a down year. Where the Sox lack even a semblance of anything good is beyond that first top tier. You’ve got Jimenez deep in the system, but that middle is what’s not there. You don’t have the High A or AA guys who are a tier below your top 100 guys that are usually the most tradeable assets.if you want to make a move, you’re gonna have to either get a rental who’s really cheap or sell off a top asset and it’s not the right time for that
