You live in Houston. A couple hundred miles to your NW is an Army post, the home of the 1st Cavalry Division. They still have horses for ceremonial purposes. Fort Hood also has several Army chapels, and in them on occasion there might be a mention or two of a place called Calvary.

Ah yes, the dreaded Cavalry/Calvary mixup.

The pen needs tinkering.

The rotation needs shock treatment.

Actually, the shock treatment is already upon us--the Commish's dictum that foreign substances, long banned by the MLB rule book, will no longer be tolerated and violators will be suspended for 10 days.

Pitchers all over MLB are going ape and claim this horrible rule will cause them to "involuntarily" throw at hitters heads because, well, it's impossible to throw a baseball accurately without recourse to various ointments, nostrums, etc.

Garrett Richards is one of the more extreme examples of the Commish's "shock treatment," but in shock he very definitely is.

And, in case you haven't noticed, Barnes devastating knuckle curve has lost a little magic and his ERA--2.57 in April and 2.70 in May--is 4.26 in June.

I am by no means opposed to bringing back Sale, bringing up Houck, whatever. But first the entire Red Sox organization needs to address the simple fact that most or all of their pitchers have been cheating and now have to relearn their very remunerative trade.

I just checked the internet on Valdez. He was optioned on 6/10 to Worcester. Nothing was mentioned about any injury, but who knows?

Doesn’t make sense to me, but a lot of the things we have done with pitching and our lineup hasn’t made sense to me so I guess it doesn’t matter

Every team and maybe just about every pitcher is "addressing" this, so I'm not sure the Sox are at any less advantage than other teams.

Perez and ERod actually looked better than their previous 2-4 starts, so maybe 2 have already begun "re-learning" or the whole sticky-gate thing was not the full reason for their slump.

You ain’t trying if you ain’t cheating. That’s my motto

Agree with both points. I think ERod very possibly wasn't using the sticky stuff, or, if he was, he wasn't using it right.

Sounds facetious, but I think that's exactly how most MLB (and minor league) pitchers have felt. Plus the cheating was definitely tolerated.
