At this rate Richards should turn into a pumpkin about the middle of the 4th. Then again, he hasn't exactly been a chariot up to this point.

And a little child, a 6'5" rookie, shall lead them. Dalbec swings at the exact same middle of the zone fastball that Vazquez sneered at and gets a dinger.

Hard hit, but right at the CFer. I like first pitch swings even though the downside can be a starter who goes 9 innings.

It seems like our starting pitchers are coming back down to earth or going through a tough stretch. Either way, it hasn't been pretty.

Who is the "stopper" on this staff?

Dalbec is swinging earlier in the count. That is how he hit the double against the Astros. For the longest time he was watching pitches over the middle of the plate and putting himself into a hole. Maybe tthe coaches have asked him to swing at any pitch over the plate and not take so many.

They won 3 of 3 against a lousy hitting Yankees team (with not great starters) and lost 5 of 7 vs. a very good hitting Astros team. And took 1 from Miami.

The Jays currently rank 8th in MLB in runs scored and played just 63 games. And Richards just went 5 innings, giving up just 3. He did, however, look absolutely awful in the first 2 innings, but sort of recovered.

This didn’t age well.

Richards just pitched a solid game.

Stopper, shmopper. We came into this season knowing there would be no "stopper." The hope is that Sale will return and resume that role. Meanwhile, Cora has his work cut out for him.
