The NESN crowd is very complimentary of our pitching. But its only "good enough" when the bats show up. We gotta' score 5 at least every night to win games seems like. Heck it will probably take 5 at least tonight.

Yup agreed. Two nights in a row putting up one run. We score in chunks and then go silent. It’s frustrating

And of course the opposing pitching has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not the Sox are hitting. Lopez was excellent last night, and Bassitt has been even better tonight. He's made Devers look silly on both K's.

Most of you guys know this, but the way baseball is played today, if a team doesn't have a reliable BP, they're going nowhere.

This bullpen isn't good enough to go anywhere meaningful this 162-game season.

Posted
Nope. This bullpen in one way or another finds ways to blow it. Every time I say it, someone brings up stats and says how I’m wrong. This bullpen f***ing blows. Everyone like Taylor and Brice can have stretches of good games but over all they suck. I trust nobody other than Barnes, and Whitlock. Whitlock had two bad outings but I still think he’s good with a ton of potential. If the bullpen has to come in for 3 or 4 innings and it’s a one run game, I just chalk it up to a loss.

Valdez has also been decent. Forgot to mention him

The pen was pretty darn good earlier, but not lately.

That Alex stat they just posted up on the TV screen tells a story. A's lowest walk rate in baseball. We are a nightly walk-a-thon.

I give them credit for sure. Still frustrating

Agreed. I didn’t think it was sustainable. Oh well.

This is a really good baseball game. That said, I am probably an anomaly for today's baseball fan.

Yankees and Mets both have lower walk rates than the A's, your tv screen notwithstanding.

So is Alex wrong or did I read it wrong?

I continue to be amazed at talksox fans refusal to give any credit to the opposing team. Bassitt pitched great tonight, and, going in, the A's were 21-15.

The Sox hitting is the best in MLB, and absolutely no one gives Bassitt any credit for holding them to 2 runs. Instead, the hitting stinks, except for Devers, who struck out badly before the dinger.

Big HR from Rafi. Would not want to go to the last 6 outs down 2 runs to this A's team.

The weakness at the bottom of the lineup makes if likely we go into the 9th by 1 run and that is if the BP holds.

You get the award for someone on talksox finally recognizing a good game, the Sox bullpen notwithstanding.

Man it’s not like Bassitt is some amazing pitcher. He’s hit table as proven by his ERA. he was good tonight, but we sucked too.

So I rewound back to the stat. According to Alex the A's rotation has the lowest walk rate in baseball for a rotation. Bassett was still in the game at the time.

What a crock. Everybody has ups and downs. Dalbec had a huge 3 run dinger and 1 or 2 other hits the other night and is still below the mendoza line.

Tonight Bassitt was terrific. He had good stuff, hit his spots, and had a catcher who knew what to call for.

I always give pitchers credit, whether they're on the SOX or the opposition. I'll just post this for the 1000th time; Good pitching beats good hitting.

Ok, I'll buy that.

That's actually not true on talksox. Just read this thread about how horrible our hitting is.
