Better to be both. But, you're right, the SOX were very lucky to take that one. But a win is a win and they count just as much in April as they do in September.

 

I dunno -- maybe the Twinks were lucky to still have a chance since the Sox left so many runners on base...

 

1) Didn't like seeing Cora go to Barnes two days in a row, but it was inevitable in a Twinbill;

 

2) Sano is a monster, but hitting below .100 and too big and slow to catch up to a Barnes heater; please don't ever throw him an offspeed pitch again that he can actually hit;

 

3) when Arraez got up, both my son and I were yelling for an intentional walk, especially when it went to 3-0 -- I know teams should never put the winning run on base, but he's Minny's best contact batter... so maybe it was lucky Verdugo was playing left to rob Arraez' great oppo liner.

This. I was thinking the same. Even pinching Kike who blew the bases loaded AB worked out because it moved Verdugo over to LF to make the game winning catch. I don't see Franchy making that catch. I said in a couple of non game threads awhile ago I thought Boston could surprise this year. I don't see a 100 win team again, but I think if they can stay healthy and the pitching can even be average the offense should be stellar. Man what a start to the season!
