Don't forget Barnes.

Where’s that Yankees fan that was so active in our series loss to Baltimore? Hasn’t been around much. Hmmm weird

He works weird hours. I believe he's a doctor. Definitely in the medical profession though. But yeah, he is quiet around here when we're winning

We are going to have some tough stretches here and there, at some point later this year, but it sure is fun during stretches like this, isn't it?

Our starters have been near phenomenal. Only one bad start in our first 7 games, and maybe Richards can turn that around.

IP H ER BB K

5.1 4 1 1 4 Eovaldi

5.0 6 2 1 8 Houck

2.0 7 6 2 2 Richards

5.0 2 0 4 4 Pivetta

5.0 5 3 2 6 Perez

7.0 3 1 3 7 Eovaldi

5.0 4 3 0 7 ERod

Nice way to start the season!

Some pen totals, so far:

5.1 3 0 0 8 Whitlock

4.0 0 0 1 9 Barnes

4.0 0 0 0 1 Valdez

3.0 1 0 3 3 Sawamura

2.2 2 0 0 0 Brice

5.0 7 2 2 5 Andriese (3.60)

2.1 2 1 4 4 D Hern (3.86)

Barnes has looked really good!

I also like the two new additions. Sawamura and Voldez.

Voldez is Valdez, and he was with us all last year. (He did okay.)

Yeah you are right, he was with us last year and I think he played about 20 games or so. I don’t know why, last year was just such a write off in my mind. I barely even remember him playing for us. I do think he is going to be very good for us though, same with Sawamura and Whitlock

We will find out a lot about this pitching in the coming weeks. In my opinion we are still playing way over our head, I think this pitching will come back down to earth but I hope I am wrong, just my opinion

As the weather warms up, the bats will warm up. I don’t expect this staff to perform at a high level for an extended period.

I know how you feel.

He did lead the 2020 Sox in relief IP with 30.1.

His 3.36 ERA looked good, but the 1.615 WHIP was very worrisome.

I'm not sure can count on continued greatness from him, but maybe he's turned a corner.

If only we had Kimbrel.

Agreed, but our bats should do better than they have in the first 7 games (.698 OPS before today's game.)

Ya that’s how I feel too. I wonder if we will keep Houck in the pen?

Barnes has looked so good! I think I’m comfortable with him being out closer

True. Vaz and Martinez are top 5 in hits. Martinez I think is second. Devers heating up, we will give anyone fits. The Minnesota series will be a tough one. Their offence is pretty solid.

I think....

I was just razzing 700 for clinging to the one thing he's got right in this tiny sample size of a portion of the 2021 season.

(I don't want Kimbrel.... or Kelly, of Porcello, or Moreland, or Beni, or JBJ (at that price), or Nunez or Price or ...)

Worst to First baby!

There is no stopping this juggernaut!

I'm not back to 93 wins, but 91 based on advanced metrics.

Don’t speak bad of Porcello. But I’m with you on everyone else lol jk. Porcello was not good again last year for the Mets. I agree , at this point I wouldn’t want him

Eventually Sale

E Rod

Eovaldi

Pivetta

Perez

Good looking rotation. I’m not sold on Richards what so ever. And I’m not sure where we stand with Houck

I have the same philosophy for lawn care... I'm regularly going from worst to first in the neighborhood, depending on long term contracts that are killing my farm system, and robbing my ability to sign new talent. I like to keep my neighborhood guessing each season....

Covid has put my lawn & shrubbery in the clear lead. They can't touch my outfield! It looks like Fenway on steroids!

Worst to first baby! I'm starting to feel it! We are finding out groove!

JD... What idiot was saying we should trade him?

We just put sod in last year. Going to seed it a bit this year but otherwise it has looked really good. Had next to no rain last year in Saskatchewan Canada, so had to keep watering it. Water bill was nearly 300 dollars a month. Was ridiculous

Me, I'm just happy with 4-3 after the 0-3 start. Someone else said the Sox started 1-6 last year, so maybe this year there is hope if not yet conviction. It's April, for crying out loud.

I finally bought the mlb.tv package with the understanding I will only miss (live online) games against the Orioles, Nationals, and Braves.

As Thunder keeps reminding us, it's a real season with real games if not yet real crowds. And so far I am astounded by the pitching.

Yup I agree completely. We started 1-4 last year and through our first 11 games we had a 3-8 record. It was as ugly of a start as it gets. Had this offence showed up in the first series, we would likely be sitting at 7-0. It’s a long season though!

Moreland and Porcello are still not bad, but we don't need either one. My statement wasn't hating on any ex-Sox players.

My point was we needed to move on from every player that is gone, except Betts, and with that contract, his loss has to be seen in the light of how his contract would have prevented us having other significant players on the roster for the next 10 years. (I still wish we had him, but there are pluses about not having him.)

The purge was needed, and a rebuild was obvious and necessary.

Last year was a tank year.

This is a bridge year with some promise. It's also a year we need to get some answers on a few players- like Houck, Dalbec, Chavis, Cordero, Arroyo, Valdez and maybe Downs and/or Casas and others, plus what position is Devers best suited for.

The real rebuild, IMO, will be this winter, and I think we can become legitimate and serious contenders by 2022 or 2023.

Pretty much the way I see it--except that I simply resent the amount of money it would have taken to keep Mookie Betts. No one is worth that much, and no one needs that much money. Same goes for Price. Also Trout. And others.

I don't disagree.

To me, this is the choice:

A. Betts at a huge contract

vs

B. The money from not paying Betts + Verdugo + Downs + Wong

It's easy to see why B is a good choice.

Personally, I wanted Betts here.

As a fan, I wanted to watch Betts for his whole career. If I take that hat off, I can see why they made the move.
