Price, 3 more years at $32 million, Eovaldi , 3 more at $17 million, Sale, 4 more years at $30 million. $79 million a year for the next 3 years, with no possible takers for aging, sore armed/wrist/shoulder throwers. f***ing pitiful. Throw Pedey on the pile and its it's another $13+- million for the next 2 years. $92 million for players who have become marginal at best.
Marginal may be too much of a compliment. Pedey is done so that money is a sunk cost. The others may bounce back but they are nowhere as good as the money they are getting. Its going to be a long 3 years. They better hope they can get some cheap guys that can play.

The SOX should just give them to the Giants and still pay their salaries. Sound familiar?

Sox will have to decide if they love JBJ's defense and occasional HRs over his pathetic average and on base percentage. I think they let him go.

 

You can argue that the overall defense including his arm does affect a majority of the games he plays, even without the 10 game a year highlight, HR robbing catches. But the bat and its inconsisstency also affect most games.

I think most good teams can afford one pure defensive player , just not 3. Also JBJr will be 30 and has no upside in his future. He costs $9-$10 million. Trade him for anything over the winter

It’s disappointing. Price has been a huge disappointment with his injuries. Just can’t stay healthy what so ever. Finally looked like we got Price back after his postseason last year and his start to the season this year. But.... no such luck. Porcello stays healthy but he’s having a horrible season.

Pedey is not DD's fault, but the 3 pitchers are . There was no purpose whatsoever to extending Sale and EO with their arm histories . Porcello never was truly great but good at covering innings for a big hitting team. Now he's exposed , and DD can't risk signing him to anything .

51-17 when our pitcher gives us 5 innings of 3 runs or less. Not even a quality start and we win 75 percent of our games. If we even had a decent rotation we would be the best team in the league by far.

Sox have only hit 3 times so far , but this game has all the 2019 familiarity working. Fall behind, 5 inning starter , no life by the bats early, behind at Fenway. Aren't they something like 3-40+ when trailing after 6 innings ??

Note to SOX FO: Please begin giving Uber drivers tryouts at pitching. It can't be worse than what you're doing now.

 

An open tryout for a starting or BP position could be a cheap fix for this team
