Can’t honestly say I have never played Center Field position before but I’ve heard it’s a tough position to play.... then again I’ve never played outfield at all lol.

When you are in LF or RF the ball is often "carving" off the bat and there is seldom an issue figuring out where its going. Balls to CF are more often just flat pounded out there, sometimes right at the CFer and it is an order of magnitude harder getting an actual read on where its going. Kiermaier on that ball Chavis hit a couple weeks ago comes to mind.

I one time had a ball hit on a line absolutely right at my nose in CF and it never moved off line and never was more than 8'-10' off the ground but had not even hit the top of its arc all the way out to where I was. It was a bad sun day and I could not pick up the seams either. it never carved either way. I was already deep for the hitter as he was a hitting machine and big. Thought I had it because I was deep to begin with and the thing went maybe two feet over my head like a rocket ship. I mean that thing was moving! The pitcher near s*** as it was only a bit over and to the side of his head at the mound. It was about as embarrassing for me as Canseco having the ball bounce off his noggin into the seats for a HR because it was a play I should have made. Asked the pitcher when we got back if he needed to change his drawers. He asked me if i had my eyes checked lately....good natured of course and we both deserved the ribbing. Heck to that point it was the hardest hit ball I had ever had hit at me...even harder than some HR's. So I had to let him know that his pitch had been absolutely CRUSHED!

The DH, and your entire 3 man bench are not hitting .200 individually. Your next two IL returnees are Pedey and Holt, a combined 3 for 36 in limited action. Your first infield call up from Pawsox is Tsu Wei Lin, at 4 for 20 so far , again SSS. This lack of performance and weak reserves will not continue beyond end of July. Look for some roster action in about 2 months.

A .190 DH swung at ball 4.

It’s time for the Sox to move on from Nunez .

He adds nothing with the bat or the glove .

Great story. Having been in CF and RF I concur. easy to get fooled on line drives to CF . Shifting to 1B and some catching made the game a little easier in many ways, mostly not having to chase mistakes too far

Devers must move Bogie around

F'ing poor effort, Rafi

You too MC. Really poor . Cole is showing these young guys, big league pitches

Very good inning by Ricky. Wish we could get this offense going.

He’s been solid! Offense is kind of having a dud. Same when Sale pitched. Ruining it.

Glad that Michael Chavis on the team filling the hole at 2B and crashing some tape measure HR's plus the rbi's with them. But he is about 2 years out from being a MLB hitter . That long arc swing will eat him up with 2 strikes against a pitcher with command and control. Devers has no real excuse following a lead off double to K

Very little room for error against a team like the stros.

Very early. Big innings coming up.

Scored a hit but that’s a play Devers needs to make.

Good that Rick pitched through that play and the walk . It would have been discouraging if the 3B play had led to the one run that may win this game.

Wasting some good pitching for sure. Have to find a way and hit this guy.

I want to make a correction to a post from last week where I stated there would be no AL teams winning 100 or more games this year. Houston, playing in the weak AL West, should definitely win 100+ games this season.

Stepping to the ball always pays off in the end. Not stepping to the ball usually ends in grief. You are not even in a good position to throw the damned thing if you don't step to it. But Rafi has at least cut his mistakes down to a couple noticeable categories, the lazy or the stupid. I think he will cure those.
