Pedroia 0-3, with 3 men LOB, last night in Portland. Kid we should keep an eye on is CJ Chatham, only 24 years old and playing SS at Double AA. Jumped 3 leagues in 1 year. Hitting, .295. Dalbec 2 errors (fielding) now at 6. 3rd quality start from Reyes. He's been walking people, very weird. In 2 other games he's pitched a 2 hitter, 6 innings, and a 3 hitter, 5 innings.

Feltman 1 inning 4 BB's, 0 K's. 0 Runs most important.

Looks like Adam Lau the closer at Portland, and Feltman the Set-up man.

Lau 15.1 innings 21 K's.

Getting back to Dalbec he projects to make 26 errors in 110 games. 110 games in the Minors, and many are 7 inning games. To be fair on Dalbec 1 error was at 1st base.

But 42 total chances and 5 errors at 3rd base, this has to improve.

SoxProspects talked about Reyes on the last podcast. They suggested that since his stuff isn't overpowering, that he needs to have pinpoint accuracy to pitch well. Lately his stuff has just been ok and he's been really just staying out of the zone. As the hitters become more formidable, he's going to nibble more and more at the corners and this could really increase his walk rate (which had really been outrageously small before).

Houck got hit pretty good gave up 2 HRs, 3 runs in 2.2 innings.

Setzer seems like a solid player. Definitely stuck as a 2b, but wonder if he eventually gets a cup of coffee.

Darwinzon Hernandez has pitched a total of 368.1 innings in the Minors, for his career. He has put on base between base hits and walks, 515 base runners.

This at Portland so far, 16.1 innings, 13 BB's, along with 21 K's.

Ockimey's OPS is now up to.932. He's always had raw skills. It would be nice if he showed big growth this year, even if he just earns some trade stock.

 

Mejia is doing his best to show he'll never make the big club. He had his 3rd blown save and got his 3rd loss while letting up 2 ER in .2 IP.

 

Portland scored 4 in the top of the 12th and found a way to lose 8-7. Feltman pitched 2 scoreless innings to bring his ERA down to 8.25. Dalbec had 4 of the team's 6 hits, including 3 dingers a 2B and a BB. Wow! 15 TB's in one game. I'm wondering when he gets the call to AAA.

I saw Dalbec a couple weeks back, 2 games against Hartford. Lets give him a couple of Months, in Double AA, before we get all giddy on him. He didn't too look good when I saw him. He's a slugger I expect HRS from him. This is a much tougher league.
