I was going to post something else and did not correct the sentence before posting. If you look you will see that I already edited it ala...should not have brought in Wright there. We have no pen and a knucler does not belong in the 7th inning of a tie game particularly against a good team.

Yeah, right. That's why Wright went two scoreless innings--because he had no business out there. Plus you of course know this pitching staff--and baseball tactics--so much better than Cora.

Cardiac innings...You want to think we will survive many of those post season, be my guest. Wright would be best used post season earlier in a game leaving the Sox some time to come back if he has a knuckler melt down. 5th or 6th inning...no later. Unfortunately I suspect he will get those opportunities post season.

If we are truly left depending on Wright in the 7th inning of tied post season games, that will simply be another telltale sign that WE HAVE NO PEN.

Swi had a shot to push the ball in the air to RF early in the count and let it go by. Not at all sure what he was thinking. Cora has over managed the game from the moment he opted to take Porcello out.

swing the f***ing bat!!!

Which of those pitches would you have had him swing at, the one that was 2 inches outside or the one that was perfect on the outside corner at the bottom of the zone? He wasn’t going to hit either one of them.

I don't know what Cora told Swi going into that AB. But if it was push the ball into the air to RF, which is what he should have wanted from Swi, he had a perfect pitch for that 0-0 and let it go by. The only reason to pinch hit for Nunez there is because Nunez would not likely push the ball in the air to RF on that pitch or any other pitch.

That was a pretty epic fail from swi followed by another from Vaz. Swi had an easier task and failed.

You still don't get it. Focus on this game, not the season or some theory you have. This bullpen has been up and down in this series with a lot of guys being used and overall a poor performance. In that context, there is absolutely nothing with sending Wright out there. Plus, oh, guess what? It freaking worked!

I think he has managed very poorly this series. I think this is a huge opportunity to learn if he is humble. Hopefullly he learns from this moving forward.

You bat Nunez and save Swihart for Leon.

Yup..absolutely only reason to pinch hit Swi for Nunez was to give Swi a chance at a Sac fly to RF, easier to execute than a base hit especially if you get the right pitch which Swi got. Lots for Cora to take from this game for the post season.
