I am not convinced Hembree even has a role in the post season. But this is the time to find out...NOT THEN.

Before steroids made a joke of offensive stats, it was a big accomplishment for a hitter to end the season with 400 or more total bases. In fact, Joe DiMaggio did it in 1941 and it wasn't done again until 1978 when Jim Rice accomplished that feat. Right now JD has 364 total bases.

 

Last I checked Martinez had 293 total bases. Where did you get 364 from?

The only sure things for this pen in the post season at this point is Kembrel closing though he has been shaky lately. There is nobody else that can close. BJ in long relief. Valazquez because he is only guy we have that has proven to have a resilient arm. Brassier has to be worked back to back to see if he can hold up to that and they have to try Barnes back to back as well though I am not hopeful in his case. Kelly probably does not have a role either and Thornburg is to this point a basket case. Somebody besides Valazquez has got to prove to have a resilient arm because post season Cora is not going to run his cast of thousands bullpen out there hoping somebody is well enough rested or has something. You end up running the same guys out there night after night and they have to stand up to that. They should bring Workman back up to see what he has also. He used to have a resilient arm. Now I just don't know.
