That's me being a debbie downer?

You sounded sarcastic. Maybe I read it wrong. "Oh only 4 games above the next best team".

Nah. I think it's pretty f***ing great that the Sox have 4 more wins than any other team in the league. I certainly didn't expect them to be THIS good.

We can all complain about some particular player or aspect of the team--which is not perfect--but it's pretty darn hard not to be thrilled with the pre-ASG record. Were the Sox to stay at .694 for the whole season, they would win 112 games. Those also-ran Yankees 4 1/2 games back? If they stay at .653, they will win 105-106 games. Astros at .646 would win 104-105 games. So all three teams are having great seasons. The question is, which ones can keep it up?

It would be a once in lifetime occurrence for all of them to keep up their pace.

We've got three teams on track to win over 100 games this year.

There's been some chatter here about how the competition level in MLB is down this year. While I don't have any stats to back this up I've been wondering if that's a byproduct of having a few teams that are better than normal and they're making everyone else look worse, both in their record and when comparing during-game performances.

It's like putting JDM in our outfield. He's not a "bad" outfielder - until you compare him to our three regular outfielders.
