I don't get that AB by Benny. You get a fastball right in your wheelhouse for pitch number 3 and he takes it. That was his best pitch to hit. Why not swing there?

I agree. It does make sense to have team's best hitters have the most at bats.

One idea on the batting order that the Sabre guys have been pushing that has not really caught on yet is your best hitter goes in the 2 hole. Your best OBP guy goes in the 1 with your best hitter behind him in the 2. Some teams have done it. Not sure enough data is available as yet to make a judgement.

That was an odd one especially with the potential tying run at third. Even Devers might get lucky and drop one , although predictably that did not happen. Cora's thinking must have been that he could Swihart to 2nd easily and IF Devers got a hit he would get the lead, But like a lot of other what ifs , this one did not pan out.

Mike trout usually hits #2 for the Angels, but they are still the Angels with no serious pitching sort of like another team.

I don't get it either. We're going to have to bite the bullet with Devers this year as this is kind of his learning year so to bat him 5th, c'mon.

 

I actually miss the 2004 Red Sox mindset. Sacrifice defense a little and go out with a total 1-9 lineup. If I remember correctly Mueller was batting 7th and he was the batting champion the year before. Right now there's too many streaky hitters, too many holes. It's tough to watch at times. We need to go all out for Harper next year and possibly replace Pedey at 2nd if he isn't healthy. Right now we got like 3 non starters in our lineup. I'm tossing in Holt, Nunez and Bradley in that group.

They are a much better team In every aspect of the game ....Boston is not 1 player away they are not winning a Worldseries while these are our pitchers ...Bullpen and starters are just not good enough .I think I will enjoy the season more knowing that we are not good enough .I hope Dave starts trading Players like Kelly and Sale away sooner than later .

These two games have been real hard to watch. The Astros have been winning the way they win and we have been losing the way we win. No Mookie has hurt. But we have not even been competitive in these games so far.

Still early but this team is gonna make the playoffs. It’s what they do come the postseason. It’s becoming embarrassing. They’re mentally weak.

We got 2 utility guys (Nunez and Holt), 1 kid who's learning the MLB ropes (Devers batting 5th? lol), and a defensive replacement player (Bradley). We shouldn't be surprised.

Without Betts, the balance is all off. And too many weak hitters in the lineup.

That should be game. If this team has any pride they win the next two including beating Verlander.
