His knee is something chronic with him. I haven't watch a bleep of spring and was surprised he was named today pitcher out the gate.

When the knee cap moves the way his moved, the trauma it causes as it moves is just too much. When he first injured it in a Red Sox uni I knew he was headed to surgery and said so. I was OK (sort of) with letting him play out that season on a brace. But they had a golden opportunity to address it in that off season and didn't. What does he do...comes out and caves the knee warming up in the bullpen for God sake! Struggles through that season I guess because Farrell was trying to save his job. Anyway the entire way that injury was handled was a cluster. Never should have happened the way it did. The entire time from the first injury in a Red Sox uni to the operation was a waste.

When pedroia returns, I hope we hit Mookie 4th, behind JD.

Nah. The first inning was the clearest indication why he should lead off.

It's not easy to get a tiger to change his stripes.

ERod has been successful doing what he does. Of course, I'd prefer him to go 7 IP not 5, but I'm not so sure I want him to try changing anything to reach that goal.

Be careful what you wish for.

I'm cautiously optimistic that his knee issues are behind him. I think that alone could allow ERod to have his best season ever in 2018 and go on to great things, even if it's just for 5-6 IP per start.

Then he’ll always be a back of the rotation guy who uses up the pen.

Nope. Even leading off, Mookie can still end up with almost 100 rbi's & 115++ runs scored.

Bogie, back at 100% should hit 5th behind JDM. Hanley will hit his way into the 3 spot.

Mookie, Beni, Hanley, JDM, Bogie, Hanley, . . . Devers, Nuner, Vaz / Swi, JBJ

A fearsome 1 - 6

Well he is throwing 4 pitches now and at least for him, fairly confidently. You would have never seen Erod doing that on a knee brace on his landing leg. He has to be willing to trust that the movement on his pitches is good enough to let the hitters put balls in play. THAT is what is still going to take some getting used to for ERod.

Too many pitches. I doubt the sox let him go far past 80 pitches. He might last 4 today against this s*** offense

He just throws too many pitches. That is a fact.

It does not take a Yankee fan to know which way the wind blows.:P

Mookie won't get 100RBI out of the lead off this year. That's a rare feat to pull off.

I prefer: Pedroia, Beni, JD, Betts, Devers, Xander, Hanley

Can anyone think of any good reason to have Morelan on this roster?

Gee, Ted, tell us how you really feel.

When Hanley falls asleep.

It always happens. No reason to think it won't this year. Other than $21 Million

After 2 innings, who’s pitching better: ERod or Rays pen guy?

Both have 1 earned run. ERod has more k’s. Rays pen guy has lower pitch count.

To me, the lower pitch count has more value to the game.

I don't think I have ever seen another pitcher that is NOT dominant that the fielders literally can go out in the field and fold out a lawn chair. They may not win a game ERod pitches. But they won't need their gloves out there either.

He's done it before.

Sure. It's pie in the sky, but I'm sticking with it.

I don't mess with his mojo!

Who cares about 100 RBI? I care about the team scoring runs, not individual accolades.

To keep HRam from vesting.

The better question is, "Why is he batting 5th and Devers 8th?" (I'm not bashing Cora- I like the guy.)

stranding runners is something of a concern. Besides, where do you bat Pedroia when he returns? Push everybody down?
