Stanton has one because he got hit in the face. If I recall correctly, it was pretty bad. I would guess most of the guys wearing those are probably guys who have been hit in the jaw or mouth with pitches. I could be wrong, but then again we all know how rare that is.

Absolutely true! When Stanton got hit in the face it was a scary sight and the same can be said for a few others who got drilled in and by the mouth. It seems there are lot more players wearing the extended flap but at the same time, you can't blame them for being cautious.
