Usually sabathia prospers when you hit that low in the zone sinking stuff. Grounded yield quick outs and innings. That absolutely is not Erods style.

So I was watching the Pats game and decided to check in on the Sox game.

 

Castro loops a ball into right that Betts tries for. He does not get it but I have no problem with the attempt as he makes those plays a lot. Bennie is in position to back him up.

 

But then he makes a throw to second that is 20 or so off the bag to the center - left side allowing Castro to slide into second safely.

 

There was a chance at a put out if the throw was strong and accurate.

 

Not sure defensive metrics account for such failures.

I did not say that the play was an automatic out. That was a play that could have been made regardless of his momentum.

What bonehead play are you talking about? Beni was running on a 3 and 2 count. Beni has to swing at a strike. In fact he never swung at any of the 3 strikes. Was it his lack of swinging you thought was a bonehead play?
