I;ve lived in Ft Myers for the better part of the last part of the last 40 years. "Getting the Games" for much of that time has been tricky. Then along came xtraInnings. And Comcast, and a $150-$180 TV/Internet bill every month. No more! I am in a beautiful, active, Senior Living facility EQUIPPED WITH WI-FU. Goodbye Comcast! Goodbye to the new and s***** ESPN programming!

Last night I was forced to merely listening to the WEEI programming on MLB.co (because it eas on ESPN and not live streaming on the internet. I listened to the best broadcaster I have heard sinc Vince Scully! This guy actually gave is the balls and strikes call. He even told us who was coming to the plate.

Now I have to figure out a way to 1) watch the game on BLB, and 2) listen to the Sox radio broadcasters---the best since Foy and Gowdy!

That was Joe Castiglione last night I believe. And he is just awesome. I love the call of the JBJ catch.....

I think there may be a delay in watching the TV and the radio, I've never done it, but heard people have. I wouldn't be able to deal with a delay.

The radio is great for the majority of the game, the play by play guys just drone on and paint a great picture. But like last night, when they call JBJ's catch one of the greatest they have ever seen, I want to see the play.

For many years, the radio broadcast has been far better than the product provided by NESN. I'm not a fan of the second man in the WEEI booth (the guy from the Pirates), but Castig is great.

There's about a five second delay. If I'm busy and not able to watch I'll have both the radio and the TV on, and if I hear Stiggy (et.al.) describe something on the radio that I want to see I run for the TV.

I have tried doing this, but it's very difficult to get the two synced up.

i did that last night and kept having to adjust the TV using tha pause button to sun them up. It is very hard to get them synced up exactly.

Funny you should mention Curt Gowdy because he's one of the reasons I became a Sox fan--while my dad was overseas 1953-54, both summers, I listened the Curt Gowdy for just about every game and was hooked. Then we left West Springfield never to return except for short visits--and with that no more Sox games on the radio.

Overall I like radio announcers more than TV because the good ones have a gift for telling you what's going on and making it interesting.

One of the things I truly dislike about Sox tv announcers are the guests who have little or no interest in the game or telling us about it, but there they are. Also the clowning around that sometimes goes on in the announcers booth.

Can you say "Vin Scully"? The guy not only had that gift for telling you what's going on and making it interesting, he did it ALONE!

I think having a second man in the booth just lends itself to a poorer product. It forces unnecessary and awkward conversation.

I've always thought that the "purpose" of that second guy was to prevent the dead time when the play-by-play guy didn't have anything to say. It's why I appreciated Scully as much as I did. He did a tremendous amount of research before each game to be able to fill the time, something the current announcers are too lazy to do.

I have to wonder how Scully is adapting to retirement after all those years of being uber-involved in baseball. It has to be difficult for him...doesn't it?

He's just driving his wife crazy with all his household commenting.

And Sandra walks up to the closet. Pulls out the vacuum. This is only the first time she has grabbed the vacuum in 2 weeks. Now she's reaching for a shoe. And the shoe is now being tossed in my direction. She missed with the throw, which reminds me of a story about Jason Schmidt.

The TV product gets hurt by the rotating of analysts - I am not sure how easy it is to build chemistry in the first place. I think some of that is by design - management (I suspect) does not want a more provincial, interesting TV broadcast (like the Sean/Jerry days let alone earlier).

I've been a fan since 1986 (first game was more like 1983 but I was 5) ... the Sean and Jerry TV combo was the best ... Jerry worked harder then and Sean challenged him more to do so.

Could be, but I absolutely loved the silliness (and the non-silliness) between Remy and Orsillo, and would welcome that back in a heartbeat.
