Big Dick Rick needs to shoving his throbbing boner down the throats of the cardinals lineup. NO GAMES

I'm sorry but what do you mean? I have never heard that expression.

sorry, Spud; I thought I answere you last night. Probably forgot to pull the tragger. Basically, the left foot (rh hitter) moves toward 3rd base when the bat is in the hitting zone. Pulling all the time. Bogaerts is just the opposite, He's heading towrn the puitcher or even the 2nd baseman. That's why hr makes contact on outside pitches.

One of my early coaches (named Fitzgerald, what else!) had an iron pipe that he made us lay out behind our heels pointing towards the pitcher. He pulled your left foot toward third bas, and you fell on your ass. This was all in early tryouts, of course, (not in practice games!)

He was a terror. We'd go to Quincy, or Malden, or somewhere, and he'd disappear about the 3rd inning. He and the other coach would come back a couple innings later half in the bag. Those were the fun days!

Excellent post above from bosoxmal, with whom I rarely agree--but that story is a gem and the explanation of foot in the bucket clear as clear can be.

I played softball with an incredible power hitter who only pulled the ball no matter where the pitch was. The problem was, he always hit tape measure HRs that were mostly foul balls to LF. The opponents eventually started placing their LF'er right on the line, and their CF'er in Left-center. One team even tried to put a fielder in foul territory, when he was up.

No matter how we tried to change his approach, he just couldn't do it.

Then, I suggested he change his stance, so his lead foot was pointed towards RF not the pitcher, so when he stepped into the pitch, his lead foot was now squared with the pitcher not the 3B line.

It worked. He began hitting HRs to left-center and CF, but he had to take some time to adjust his vision and having his head turned so both eyes could see the pitched ball as he was facing RF to start his ABs.

Gotta give credit to the pen for last night's win. Awesome job.
The pen did a great job last night-- even Abad has not been bad lately. I like what I have seen from Robby Scott so far.

Only old fools stay up until 10PM to watch a few inngs (?) in Oakland. Say hi to an old fool. I'm rationalizing this foolishness by saying, "I gotta see this new pitcher."
