Glad it's the time of year when a couple of good games can turn your stat line around in a hurry....Beni, Mookie, Xander, Hanley, and of course Mitch "David Who?" Moreland all batting over .300 at the moment.

Wright is likely done after this inning. Was an ugly first but he really settled down and threw some strong pitches.

And again today, Sox fielding costs the pitcher. Both runs unearned due to the Hernandez drop and it cost Wright 13 extra pitches.

Ya too many mistakes that we have to clean up. If we win this we can move past it and hope they clean this up. But against good teams like Baltimore and Yankees it will cost us.

Maybe he's begun to turn thing around after settling down after the first.

I dodged a bullet by not jumping on this thread in the early innings. Wright did indeed settle down and pitch a pretty commendable game given his last start.

Almost got to 100 mph!

He actually did according to the NESN feed.

Kimbrel was excellent even without FB command.

Good stuff!

Why can't Kimbrel make anything easy?!?!?!?!

After I said this last week the guy has gotten it done without much drama.

Of course striking out the side to end a close game is dramatic.

Maybe Tim Wakefield should be pitching coach when Wright is on the mound. Seems like he corrected whatever was wrong with Wright the last game he pitched.

I have done more than my share of whining about the rotation, but I can't say enough about how well the bullpen has been. They did 4.2 scoreless innings yesterday and another 3 today.

If memory serves, it was the bullpen that was so great during last year's September run. Not to single him out because others have contributed mightily, but to me the difference between Kimbrel in 2016 and in 2017 is that he has command of his breaking stuff this year.

Apparently, it only takes two good pitches to thrive in the bullpen. Uehara had that nasty splitter and the slow boat to china fastball--88 mph tops--but he had great control and confidence.

I thought that was common knowledge? Starters need 3 good pitches. Relievers need only 2.

Due to your reverse mojo, please start complaining that this team isn't hitting enough HR's.
