Aloha everyone, haven't been on here in a long time since I haven't had a computer in forever... But as my title says I will be making my long awaited trip up to Fenway this year... I kindly ask for any advice or words of wisdom as it comes to Fenway and the city of Boston. We will be coming in Sept 30th to catch the last three home games. We already bought the on the field tour package for Fri and Sat and just bought our tickets for the last game of the season on October 2nd!!! Super excited for this journey and can't wait to finally see them play at home.

Mahalo to any and all who respond...

Posts like these come up all the time, so I'll do my best to give some advice though searching for old threads may help you a ton.

The best part about Fenway is just walking around the neighborhood on gameday. Get there early, eat a sausage, grab a beer at one of the many establishments in the area. There is also a place called The Bleacher Bar that is built into CF and provides a great view of the stadium. It's too busy right before a game, but if you go for lunch before a night game, you'll have a blast.

As for the rest of Boston, just pack your walking shoes. It's a great little city and you can see most of it in one day. I'd recommend you walk the freedom trail (it sounds corny, but I always love doing this because it gets you to see some of the great historical places of Boston), grab a slice of pizza in the North End (Ernestos) and go to the Union Oyster House.

At the Union Oyster House, ask to be seated in the JFK booth if they are not too busy. He had dined at that booth and there is a commemoration plaque in the booth. You can combine the best clam chowder with sight seeing.

And if you really enjoy that, there's a nice bridge on MV in Chappy that my father in law can show you...

lol.

Another Kennedy lover!

I've met Joe III. He seems like a great guy.

I shook hands with Ted when I was about 13 or so.

But my most memorable Kennedy related moment was when I took a piss in the head on the PT Boat Guardian at the Coast Guard base in Woods Hole when I was a kid. That boat used to moor in Woods Hole when it was following Jackie around on the Kennedy yacht.

I had such a rich childhood!

LOL!! I am just a sucker for any Presidential history. Despite the fact that I have come to really despise all politicians, I am a student of Presidential history. I will visit any Presidential Library if it is in the vicinity of my travels. I have been to the JFK library twice. A 1964 high school yearbook designed and edited by my brother that was dedicated to JFK is in that Library. It ma be very nerdy, but to me that is pretty cool.

Welcome to Boston I am going to the whole series that weekend.

Suggest making a whole day of it like doing vaness where all the players pull in and seeing who comes in and who doesn't I did hear though that the rumored ceremony for big papi will be on Saturday the 1st of october not on sunday. Where did you get your october 2nd tickets because there have been a lot of scamming going on on stub hub with that date. It happened to me but stub hub upgraded me to new tickets better seats.

I highly recommend paying the 30 and doing the batting practice watch from the warning track. Sign up for red sox nation too because that gets you in early to watch practice from the green monster. I will say this though vaness is the spot to be when visiting because if you get there around 9am you will see big papi and the vets usually pulling in and sometimes people will sign stuff.

Also I would recommenced spending $40 and getting two 7 day T passes as you get unlimited bus and subway rides on it. It will save you money in the long run. Bring warm clothes like sweatshirts and some light clothes as the weather here is wicked wacky and sometimes we literally get 4 seasons in a week.

Also the $1 programs are a MUST because sometimes they come with rare items. Last year I got one that came with a limited edition big papi 500 ticket and they only made 5000 of them.

Tasty burger has a great burger better than wahburgers. Also hot dogs are good at fenway. Dunkin Donuts is good too but you can't bring any food or drink with you into the park they will throw it out. Seen a guy once walk up to security with a iced coffee full from dunkins and they made him toss it.

Check out Marshalls and TJ maxx for Red Sox stuff much cheaper than the suvenior store. Also if you get red sox nation for $15 you get 10% off in the team store.

I go to fenway a lot during the season and its always a good time. If you would like any other information feel free to PM me on here I am more than happy to help.

PS: Hawaii has been a dream trip of mine that I will make someday.
