Hi everyone;

I am sure you all are asked about visiting Fenway Park all the time - considering its history and how a visit to Fenway park is on every baseball fans bucket list.

But Im a Nats fan coming to Fenway for the first time ever for the home opener Monday. I figured since its not like the Nats and Red Sox's are really a rival (Until late this Oct I hope!) there would be no ill will in me asking for some tips in visiting Fenway park on opening day!

Do the bars and places around there open earlier (Seems to be most of the places there open around 11am? Correct?). Any recommendations of places I need to go before and after game? More thinking is there gonna be some place I dont go or see then kick myself for not going when I was there?

Im only there Sunday night to Tuesday afternoon - So any advice or tips would be really appreciated. As for the game itself - Looking forward to it!! Looks like we will have Jordan Zimermamn - Who I (and most Nats fans) would say is the best of the best on our rotation!

Not sure on what the hours are, but there are plenty of bars out there. Cask and Flagons and Game-on are your more traditional sports bar. Boston Beer Works has their own brews. Yardhouse has about 400 beers on tap. Copperfields is the dive bar. There is a country club and a tequila club around there, no opinions on that. Bleacher Bar has a view of the park. Haven't been to Hawthornes, but I hear it is the classy joint.

There are plenty of others closeby -- Lower Depths on Comm Ave has good beers, loud music, and insane tater tots. Boylston St has a dozen more.

Just wander around the area. I don't believe there are any can't miss attractions. The Bleacher Bar is kinda cool. Youcan't stay for very long on gameday though.

you had me a tater tots -

ok - I will walk around. Because its suppose to be a great day we were planning on showing up super early (say 10am) and get some breakfast around the park. Is that a good idea or should we just eat at hotel and plan on bouncing around and drink before game. (I know questions are kinda dumb -but I am really excited about this trip!)

Definitely wander around outside the park, you might spot Luis Tiant walking around outside. Just look down, he's a lot shorter than you think.... ;-)

So how was your visit?

besides my team playing like a little league team? It was Amazing!!

Boston fans were the best I've ever been around! Maybe everyone was happy because the weather was so perfect or because you all kicked our butt - but everyone, even before the bar, represented Boston well! We were in all Nats gear but everyone at bars before hand, bars after, even the urber drivers and the bus driver (We did a Sam Adams tour the morning of the game. They had a free Bus after the tour to Fenway) was just as friendly as can be!

Random story -Im a Nats season tickets holder - and the two people who have tickets next to me for the past 2 years -They were also at Fenway! They were sitting about 10 rows in front of us! They reported the same experience (She even caught a foul ball!)

My only regret now is that I didnt bring my kids, who would have LOVED it.

Glad to hear it worked out well for you. It might have been a little different if they were playing the Yankees and you were wearing Yankees gear.... ;-)

Heard that too. BTW- Took most of the advice in this thread. Went to Cask and flagons and bleacher bar before the game. Then Boston beer works after.

Well yeah. But then Yankee fans do the same thing to us. That's one of the downsides of a great rivalry. It always means there will be some immature jerks who take it too far.

I still think that the "Rivalry" really heated up over the Mickey Rivers thing. I wonder what Ted thinks? I could be wrong, of course. I don't remember everything.

You're correct, as I've experienced it myself!
