Breslow has done nothing this year. Why didn't they dump him?

Wish they would dump bradley jr as well.I dont see this guy really turning into a player.

Well to be fair to Bradley he has good company in the black hole. Middlebrooks keeps taking far ones down the middle and still hasn't shown the power we need. Bogaerts is a choker from the word go. That has proven to be a given and those who excoriated me for saying so way back in April have headed for the hills instead of trying to defend an indefensible position. And of course, Jackie junior is s*** warmed over. He is not going to hit. he is not going to hit. he is not going to hit. He is slow with the bat, cannot get around on a good fastball and just looks overmatched at the plate. But Bogey and WMB are both bitter disappointments as well. I like Vazquez behind the plate but let's face it, he is a 230 type hitter. We had better keep Blake Swihart because he can hit and WE NEED SOME DAMN HITTERS IN THE WORST WAY.

Bogaerts is going to be fine. Your assessment of him is extremely premature.

JBJ has been a big disappointment and doesn't have the bat speed, at least not yet. Middlebrooks doesn't have the plate discipline, at least not yet.

Bogaerts has both. He'll be very very successful, I can promise you that.

Since 6/4, when Bogaerts bad streak started, he's had a .196 BABIP. Based on his batted ball percentages (line drive rates, etc), his expected BABIP is .284.

If his BABIP was .284, he would have 14 more hits, which would put his average and OBP at .264/.357.

Whats worse, his BABIP with RISP is .156. So, I see a lot of hope for Bogaerts, and this is why.

I dont think Vasquez is going anywhere. The WEEI broadcast really talk him up as being a special catcher. He seems to have it when it comes to defense and calling a game. Swihart will make excellent trade bait for a big bat.

Youk, Vazquez looks to be a terrific defensive catcher but his hitting potential doesn't come close to Blake Swihart. Blake could be switched to another position since he has only caught for three seasons. No way should we trade a player who can switch hit successfully as this guy can. And remember this, there is no way in hell that we could carry both Vazquez and Bradley in the same lineup, and if Bogaerts doesn't a lot better fast we will have a trio of a black hole in the bottom third of our lineup.

Vazquez with RISP : .350/.360/.500/.860. This guy is a stud.

Really?? You're really gonna use 20 ABs to label the .237/.291 hitter a stud? What about the rest of the time? I like him but he has some way to go yet to prove much of anything with the bat.

Its a joke for Fred -- he overemphasizes RISP numbers.

Ah! Sorry, you got me :)

He got me too NS!!!! I don't know how old Palodios is and haven't been able to figure out if he's a young guy or middle adult but he knows his stuff and is not beyond giving a well deserved needle when appropriate---and I enjoy the exchanges. A friend told me that he disagrees with me about this thing about a clutch hitter, saying that there is no such thing. I guess he forgot Ortiz. However, he totally agreed with me with my take about the opposite. There are guys who do choke with men on base and he believes this is a malady that usually doesn't correct itself. I'm hoping he's wrong about this because if he's not we have a long and potentially miserable future experience ahead of us with Bogaerts who has shown the very thing that scares the living s*** out of me---the inability to hit when it counts.
