Alex Cobb (8-3, 2.99, 18 starts)

Felix Doubront is being skipped in the rotation, but we'll see how long that lasts with Dempster on the mound tonight. Maybe a miracle happens and he John Lackeys Cobb, the same way Buchholz and friends John Lackey'd Price last night. Or maybe he'll take the moral high ground again and throw at Yunel Escobar for having "You play like a girl" painted in his eye black.

Still leading the league in runs and we're still one of only two teams in the majors with 700 runs scored on the season (and over halfway to 800). However, those dickheads in Detroit overtook us in total differential last night. Unacceptable. I wish them a painful night in south Chicago. Oh, and our playoff chances? According to ESPN, 100%. Gee, thanks for counting our chickens for us.

No wonder he was so terrible for the Sox, he was almost 100 years old when they signed him.

I'm just copying and pasting.

Whoever you copied that from, they were apparently not paying a lot of attention. You'll notice that in addition to that obvious typo, the Red Sox and Rays matchups vs. the pitchers are next to the wrong teams. Someone was laaaazy.

Yesterday Tampa were heavy favourites according to Vegasssss.

Again they are heavy favourites.

I think I will smash my desktop at home if they are given the advantage in Peavy V Hellickson

Lets win this series tonight!!!!

I don't know if -130 and -140 are heavy favorites for a home team. Especially considering Buchholz struggled in his rehab starts, and Dempster is not a good pitcher.

Last year at this time, there were so many Rays fans sporting their gear here in Fort Myers. This year, there are hardly any Rays fans that are supporting their team. I am rooting for them to not make the wildcard. There are four teams within 2.5 games of them in the WC standings. It should be an interesting finish to the season.

They made sure that everyone knew what the song of the day was. Couldn't get that part wrong.

That's interesting as Atlanta and LA are still at 99.9 and they have a bigger lead than the Sox

It's the beards. The beards put them over. Brian Wilson's fake-looking beard by itself wasn't enough to give LA that last fraction of a percentage point, and as for the Braves, well, just look at them. Not a bearded warrior among them.

Not so fast:

You see why we need to sign this man? He's single-handedly keeping the Braves' playoff odds in the 90's.

Please. One beard? One beard that, compared to Napoli or Gomes or Pedroia, is basically peach fuzz? Look at how short that thing is. He should be embarrassed.

Yeah, but Salty's beard doesn't have to carry the whole team. He has at least three other beards better than his and a couple equal.

But it'd be both a beard and on-field improvement. Best of both worlds.

This is a lie. You don't have balls, and if you did, they wouldn't have hair.

Operative word being 'around' as opposed to 'on'.

I do have balls. Proof? I dragged them all over your face when I didn't acknowledge your shotgunned game thread.

just kidding YOTN plz don't lock

Right? I have a more impressive beard around my balls.
IMO unless your beard is a religious/cultural necessity they should only be grown to cover up an ugly or defective face. A well-groomed beard is preferable to that unshaven scruffy Hollywood look. If you are too lazy to groom a nice beard shave that s*** off your face. You look like a lazy jackass.

And get off of my lawn!

The only people who hate magnificent beards are the people who can't grow them. My brother is 22 and still incabable of growing anything more than a couple long hairs out of various spots on his chin, and he badmouths my beard all the time. It's jealousy. Pure jealousy.

Yeah, that's exactly why I don't like beards....

Gomes, Pedey, Napoli and Ross look ridiculous. And if they were on other teams, I'd constantly make fun of them. But they are on MY team, so I LOVE THEM!!!

I should have specified, I meant men who don't like beards because they can't grow them. Women who don't like them don't like them for various reasons, some of them valid but most of them not. :P
