I'm actually with VA on the participation thing. That's life, it worked for every other generation since the beginning. You want to be #1 and get all the accolades? Try harder. We didn't get to be the dominant species on this planet by coddling the ones who didn't try harder.

I don't have a problem with it in T-ball. Heck it is a win if they can just hit the damned thing at that age. Past T-ball I think they should have to WIN games to be considered trophy worthy.

That said, if you watch these young kids play they could win city championships if you just have a catcher that can actually catch thrown baseballs. I see whole games where runners get on by advancing to 1st on a missed 3rd strike and then proceed around the bases as balls continue to get past the catcher.

I do agree with you there. T-ball is excruciating to watch.

Thank you Eck. Drew can't let that go by with two strikes. Foul it off if you have to but don't just stand there and expect the ump to bail you out.

Norris is up close to 80 pitches in four innings....he will soon be gone and Farrell will be ringing the dinner bell for the Sox hitters.

So Bud f***ing Norris got that pitch called for a strike but Lackey has had a handful of close pitches all called for balls. Bitch ass umpire...

I'm not making light of concussions. Just saying that football could be a thing of the past in the future. Flag/touch football will dominate!

How is that making light of concussions? These players know what they are signing up for.

There's a lot of fans that think the league is being "wussified" because of the NFL's curtailing of the rules to reduce concussions. You're sarcasm made me think you were one of them. As for the players knowing what they signed up for, there's substantial evidence that the NFL engaged in hiding information about long-term brain injuries from players in the past. I'm also fairly certain that NFL players are not neurology experts.

Norris has had his share of strikes called balls. Just cannot stand there and take a pitch that close with two strikes. Drew was not fooled by the pitch as much as he refused to protect the plate.

if I'm Lackey I would be extremely piss at this offense on days I pitch.

Hope he goes on a rampage in the dugout if he leaves the game and the O's lead. That's pretty much the only way he can say f*** you to the offense in the nicest way.

Sure, just like tobacco companies tried to hide the ill effects of smoking.

The only way to end concussions for good is to end football/sports/injuries. They are making great strides to make it as safe as possible.
